First of all a good boss has to be a good conflict mediator. Most of the problems between employees are due to a luck of communications and misunderstandings between them. The mediating function has much to do with creating bridges that helps people to communicate and dissolve the conflicts.

Also something very important for being a good leader it is to be very pragmatic and clear about what he expects from the team or people that are working with him. Clarity gives people security.
