Is it important that young people should know about history of their country?

Whether they like or not,young people learn history in school and take history tests.Make no mistake about it,schools always emphasize the history of their country,but why they try their best to focus on the education of history?Of course,they tend to support that every young people must know about history of their country.

Some of teenagers may or may not realise the importance of their country history.However,we cannot deny that learning history can benefit young people and allow them to have appreciation of their ancestors.No matter how the history is,young people can understand their forefathers' commitments and be grateful to the contributions.Through learning the old life style and the way their ancestors built the country,they will realise the hardship of founding a country.As a little island as singapore,we learn the history of its independence and appreciate our former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew as well as the people who devoted themselves for the country.In fact,through their efforts,we are able to live peacefully at last.

In addition,we all know that the process of learning history is the process of learn a lesson from life.The mistakes which were taken by the ancestors should be prevented.When young people get some benefit from history,the nation will develop.In 1969,the racial riot took place in singapore.It caused a large number of people's death.While learning this historical tragedy,young people realise the necessary of tolerance.As we tolerant one another,we will live in harmony.Actually,this is the gift which from history to all of us.

It is without doubt that if the people especially young people know their history very well,it also expresses the confidence and togetherness as a nation.After the Franco-Prussian War,two regions of franco -- Alsace and Lorraine,which were withdrawn french language by Prussian forces.Prussian banned the education of french history among the french students.They were forced to forget their civilisation.The way to damage a nation is to destroy their national history.History of a country involves the common memory of civilians.It will benefit all the generations.

History,as the container of our forefathers' memory,occupies an important position and it cannot be replaced.Remember,forgetting history is forgetting the spirit of nation.Young people will play an important role and remembering history is necessary for all of them.
