This is my first toefl essay and I will be glad if somebody will find time to give me a feed-back, thank you very much!

Do you agree your disagree with the following statement ?
Always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship.

Truth it self doesn't exist

To tell the truth - What does this sentence means? If I had to explain, I would say that to tell the truth is saying the way someone believes something is suppose to be or being looked. Truth it self doesn't exist, everybody has your own truths. If telling the truth in any relationship means to tell everyone around you what do you think without any restrictions, I have no doubt in being against it.

Truth itself is not enough to build a relationship because that is a lot of ways to look at something, and your opinion is not always the right one. For example, when your best friend cuts her hair and she looks awful in your opinion. She comes to your house to ask you how does she look. Well, she already has done it, why you are supposed to say what you really fell about it? Besides that, maybe someone is going to like her new haircut. So, you like your friend very much and you are going to say that she looks beautiful.

At the other hand, you have to have some boundaries about lying to keep a relationship health. Otherwise, you are not going to have something that is very important in a relationship, trust. I believe that trust in a relationship means the commitment between two persons in wish for the other what you want for yourself and both of you are aware of this mutual feelings.

To want someone to be happy doesn't always means to say what the other wants to hear it. Especially in the relationship between a parent and child, because the child doesn't have maturity enough to kwon what is good for yourself. Even for adults relationship you are authorized to say something that doesn't please the other person. Like that example above, if before cutting her hair again your friend asked your opinion, she is making you allowed to say the truth. But don't forget: there are many ways to tell the same truth!

Truth itself doesn't exist

To tell the truth - What does this sentence means? If I had to explain (it should be "if I explain" ) , I would say that to tell the truth is saying (to say) the way someone believes something is suppose to be or being looked. Truth itself doesn't exist, everybody has your (their) own ideas on truth. If telling the truth in any relationship means to tell everyone around you what do you think without any restrictions, I have no doubt in being against it.

[I would say that to tell the truth is saying (to say) the way someone believes something is suppose to be or being looked.]
Don't you feel this sentence is a little bit odd, what do you mean by saying that? Do you mean truth is the concepts and attitude towards anything they faced?

Personally, the first paragraph looks a little strange, I don't think truth is the thoughts people think, it should be a sort of abstract things that beyond the people's minds.

[If telling the truth in any relationship means to tell everyone around you what do you think without any restrictions,] this sentence itself has a logic problem, the truth obviously is not about telling everyone around you what do you think. Truth, in my point, is the actual process the things happened.

Do you agree with it?

maybe it is some misunderstanding in my mind, if so, just forget them, haa~~~

Anyway, hope they can help you something!

I see that, in questioning the nature of truth, you are trying to grapple with some complicated questions in the context of a simplistic TOEFL essay. In general, you will want to keep your TOEFL essay as simple as possible, remembering that the purpose is to demonstrate your English proficiency, not to express your opinion on that particular topic. You will want your essay to have a clear introduction with a clear thesis statement. Your essay should also have a clear conclusion which restates the thesis. In between, you should have about three body paragraphs, each of which puts forth an argument supported by facts or examples.

I think, for the purpose of this essay, you can treat "telling the truth" as being understood to mean "telling the truth as you understand it when speaking." For instance, when someone asks you how their new hairstyle looks, it is generally understood that you are being asked for your opinion, which might differ from that of other people, and maybe even the majority of them. If you think it looks like the person is wearing a dead skunk on their head, but you say you think it looks wonderful, you are in fact not telling the truth, but lying shamelessly. Insisting that truth doesn't exist or is only a matter of perspective does not in fact mean that you did not blatantly lie, saying something that you clearly believe to be false. It is perfectly okay to argue that sometimes it is better to lie. It is even okay to argue that you should lie in this particularly instance. If so, you are disagreeing with the prompt statement. That's fine. Don't try and weasel out of the fact that you are taking the non-PC view, even if, like many non-PC views, it is the one most of us actually subscribe to.
