The table illustrates the need for different items in 5 countries in 2002. In general, the percentage of national consumer spending on Food/Drinks/Tobacco is much higher than other items in all 5 countries.
To specify, in 2002, while Turkey saw a high demand for Food/Drinks/Tobacco which is up to 32,14%, that in Sweden is only 15,7%. Being lower than Ireland, Spain surpassed Italy in the percentage of comsumer spending on Food/Drinks/Tobacco. Howerver this country had lower demand on both Clothing/Footwear and Leisure/ Education than that of Italy. Interestingly, although Turkey had the highest percentage consumer spending on Food/Drinks/Tobacco, that on Clothing/Footwear of this country is lower than Italy with their figures being 6,63% and 9.00%, respectively. As can be seen from the table, Turkey made up for the biggest percentage of consumer spending on Leisure/ Education with above 4% followed by that of the 4 other countries whose figures are quite equal and smaill.
