Why I want to attend Brandeis

Please include a short response explaining why you want to attend Brandeis. Please limit your response to 250 words or less.

PLEASE REVIEW AND EDIT- all suggestions welcome

I believe that learning through experience is the best way to come to grips with subjects like International and Global Studies. That's what makes Brandeis my first choice. Your distinguished faculty, and unique study abroad and internship programs would each be a vital input into my future, shaping me as a truly global citizen.

At 17, I enjoy challenging myself. In sync with the Brandeis tradition, I have been trying to decode international community interrelationships since I first attended a Model United Nations (MUN) session at 14.

I would like to be a Community Advisor if I make it to Brandeis because your Community Living Department appeals to me. I admire the Brandeis student conduct system, with its emphasis on equality, common rights and duties.

While schooling in India, I have been part of small, close-knit classes, and proved an effective leader among my peers with a sound academic record. Your student-faculty ratio of 9:1 makes me feel right at home, though I have never lived or studied abroad before.

In Bangalore, I enjoyed my time out at the MUN and Robotics Club. I have my sights set on your Model UN club, the Culinary Arts Club and the Leadership and Activism Group.

I think the Brandeis experience will allow me to grow as an individual because of your international orientation and value-based cultural life. Post-Brandeis, I hope to contribute intelligently to shaping our world.

I would add on to your last statement. What do you plan do to in your career? Is it something that you can major in at Brandeis? Better yet is something that Brandeis specializes in?

I don't know if "come to grips with" is the right phrase. Doesn't it mean something like "cope with" as if it is something very bad?

I have been trying to decode international community interrelationships since I first attended a Model United Nations (MUN) session at 14.

Prove it. Add a sentence after this claim that shows special insight you have gained into IR. What have you learned? What do you think it is that makes the UN so dysfunctional? What are some scholars writing about the UN these days? Right after making this claim that you have been learning about IR, prove it by sharing a sentence of insight.

:-)
