Hey guys, it would be wonderful if you guys could just tell me your initial thoughts on the essay and things that need to be changed urgently. I am still correcting spelling, grammar and world flow, so this is the first raw version. Thanks, Peace out.

HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT VASSAR AND WHAT ASPECTS OF OUR COLLEGE DO YOU FIND APPEALING?

In an SAT question my first come across with Vassar would be answer choice C; an incidental recurrence of an event with subsequent profound investigation of such. After I finished watching Julie & Julia with my mother, an inveterate fan of Meryl Streep, I was barraged with trivial details on Ms. Streep's life, when also the word Vassar College was dropped. Unaware of the relevance to me and inundated with information, I stored this name in the back of my head.

What really sparked my interest in Vassar, however, was meeting Lilly, a current student at Vassar and who was spending a term abroad at Prague Film School. We strolled through the Museum of Art History and I explained the significance of Gustav Klimt to Vienna to her, when she uttered the word Vassar. Bells rang and from my cerebrum's deep corner I recollected the connection. From me touring her around the museum, we switched to her giving me campus tour on Vassar in my mind. I was fascinated by her accounts about the school's liberality, the safe space for LGBTQ students, the artistic environment and a diverse student body. Did I really just bump into the College of my dreams?

After having heard such inspiring things about Vassar, I felt compelled to do more research on it. I would not be disappointed. When accessing the Admissions page on Academics I read First-Year Writing Seminar (...) examine topics such as (...) „Russia and the Short Story". Forthwith I was reminded of my most favorite short story A Dill Pickle by Katherine Mansfield. As an Austrian student, I am most acquainted with the domestic university system, which is characterized by colossal lecture halls and mass processing. Although I am doing a term of philosophy and art history, there is so much to learn that I have not learned yet, such as Russia and the short story. Pursuing a liberal arts education at Vassar would be the opposite of the intellectual confinement I previously experienced. I would have more liberty in choosing what I want to do, given the amount of inter- and multi disciplinary programs. Small class sizes and contact with professors are things I value highly.

Ever since I did a working experience at Dorotheum, a Viennese Auction House, I aspire to work for such an institution. Naturally, as being a school that offers unmatched opportunities to students majoring in Art History, my choice falls on Vassar. Scrutinizing the courses offered by the Art department, I am elated by a curriculum that favors a holistic approach to interpretations, regions and epochs, which serves Art as an interdisciplinary discipline well. Besides a solid intellectual preparation, Vassar goes the extra mile, when providing opportunities to its students to do internships at major New York cultural institutions, which will prepare me for a professional career after I graduate. Furthermore, the study away program St. Petersburg seduces any connoisseur of Art. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will undoubtedly enrich my understanding of Art, but also prepare me to become an expert in the field. Vassar's combination of intellectual growth and professional experience creates an environment most favorable for conducting research myself in the future.

I never imagined that a conversation on Meryl Streep would ever be the starting point of a challenging journey I hope to undertake. One of the stops on this journey I aspire to be the ivy-covered walls of Vassar.

Hi, orlaendoe. Here are my corrections to your essay:

HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT VASSAR AND WHAT ASPECTS OF OUR COLLEGE DO YOU FIND APPEALING?

My introduction to Vassar College came while watching a Meryl Streep movie called Julie & Julia. Although Meryl Streep's acting was impressive, it was the movie's reference to the college that really grabbed my attention.

My interest in Vassar College intensified after meeting Lilly, a Vassar student studying abroad at the Prague Film School. As we toured the Museum of Art History, she spoke glowingly about the college's diverse, artistic and accepting environment. I was fascinated. This could be the "College of My Dreams," I thought.

While reviewing the college's website, I was greatly impressed by the variety and quality of the offered courses, ranging from a first-year writing seminar to specialized classes in Russian short stories.

Small class sizes, one-on-one contact with professors and the ability to often choose one's own classes are all important criteria for me in choosing college. Unlike the large, rather impersonal Austrian universities, Vassar offers its students all of these benefits.

Ever since working at the Dorotheum Auction House, I have hoped to find an educational program that will prepare me for a career dealing with art. The variety of courses, internships and once-in-a-lifetime study-abroad opportunities Vassar provides to its art history students make Vassar College an obvious choice for someone like me.

I never imagined that aconversation on Meryl Streep movie would could ever be the starting point of ahelp point me in the direction of my dream collegechallenging journey I hope to undertake, but I am so grateful that it did. One of the stops on this journey I aspire to be the ivy-covered walls of Vassar.Maybe one day, I will look back on that movie and smile, remembering how it helped me make my dream come true.

Please "like" my post if you think I did a good job editing your essay. I am also a huge fan of art history (love Gustav Klimt's art!!!) and wish you the very best in your endeavors.
