I love writing. It is a easy relief which consists of a wild, insightful observation of life, an inward
imaginative safari and an intense interaction with people. I enjoy writing because it enables me to
seize every minute to immortalize hidden humorous and ironic aspects of life and process those
crude facts into colorful narration; it turns my ordinary life into a journey full of wonder and
surprise. Even when I stay my home, a normal object like a cooking pan or a candlestick will
stimulates my creative neurons and inspires me to write down a fantasy.

Although you may not yet know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why? (*) (100 words or fewer) [i]
Writing and Humanistic Studies appeals to me the most. This course combines science and
creative writing in an unorthodox way, e.g. science writing. Studying science writing and science
fiction not only presents itself as an unprecedented possibility beyond my self-expectation of
becoming a manager in a high-tech company but also serves to enhance its students'
communication and writing skills so much that they can easily achieve a managerial role.
Furthermore, the diverse topic subjects in this major are compatible with my belief that life is a
probing process; boundaries between different intellectual areas should be blurred.

What attribute of your personality are you most proud of, and how has it impacted your life so far? This could be your creativity, effective leadership, sense of humor, integrity, or anything else you'd like to tell us about. (*) (200-250 words)
The attribute I am most proud of is my strong sense of right and wrong.
When I was in junior school, I attended a contest in Star of Hope of China TV. I successfully '
entered into the second phase contest in telling a one-minute story. The topics should not be
given to the contestants in advance. However, I got a note of the topics from a teacher of my
school. When I received the competition question, I gaped at it with an open mouth. I simply can't
believe it. Depression, frustration and other convoluted feelings washed me through. How can a
person ever think of seeking victory by playing a dirty card?
Although my strong sense of right and wrong didn't bring me any success in that English story-
telling contest, it brings me other results - leading roles in various students' organizations, and
being beloved, respected and entrusted by my peers.
I have been the chief secretary of Suzhou Library Volunteer Association for two years. Sometimes
the process of interviewing and admitting new volunteers becomes quite embarrassing. Since it's
not easy to become a formal member of our organization, some students try to bribe me to avoid
the formal process, the case of which I emphatically refuse. Also, my personality assists me in
distinguishing those who are genuinely interested in volunteering from those who only want to
earn a work certificate to fill in their college application form. This ensures that the whole
organization can work together to achieve its goals and visions.
This course combines science and
creative writing in an unorthodox way. For insance, studying science writing and science
I would also consider reducing the space between lines, as it makes it harder for the reader to follow the passage.
Except for those details, I think your answers are excellent.
