Any and all comments are welcome!

Please provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. (250-650 words)

"Where in the world did you learn to ride horses like that?" my shocked mother asked.

At eight years old, I was going through the typical horse-crazy stage many young girls experience. My family was visiting our relatives in Oklahoma, and I had incessantly begged my uncles to take me riding until they finally caved and decided to let me give it a try.

With the hot Oklahoma sun relentlessly beating down on me, I nervously climbed aboard the 1,000+ pound animal and wondered what exactly I had gotten myself into. My feet barely even reached the stirrups! Nevertheless, being the type of person to hide the fact that this suddenly seemed like a bad idea, and that I might not exactly know what I was doing, I gathered the reins and nudged the horse forward in the dusty field. Within minutes, I was having the time of my life cantering around in patterns and getting the horse to do exactly what I asked of him.

When my mother called me over to ask where I had learned to ride, I only had one response for her. Beaming down I proudly stated, "I read it in a book!"

"I read it in a book" has since become a private joke in my family. As a child, I was always learning things through reading countless books and then putting my new knowledge to the test in real life. It is in my nature to not only enjoy the process of acquiring new knowledge, but also to challenge myself to see how it applies to the real world.

My time so far at the University of Georgia has been spent exploring new subjects and gaining new insights into the business world. I have been surrounded by brilliant minds, and had the pleasure of learning from some of the most respected professors in the nation. However, two years and several business classes later, I find that while the University of Georgia has been an excellent stepping stone for me and provided me with an invaluable foundation in core business classes, it provides me with limited research opportunities to apply the knowledge I am gaining as I would like to be able to.

In making the decision to transfer, my ultimate objective is not only to find a university that would continue to provide me with a challenging learning experience, but one that would also allow me to actively participate in several research studies. This hands-on learning approach is one that complements my personal style of learning and stimulates me to take the knowledge I am gaining and turn it into valuable skills that will enable me to reach my full potential.

The University of Pennsylvania not only provides the research possibilities I desire, but they go several steps above and beyond. For example, their use of cutting-edge technologies in learning lab simulations allows business students to experience what real world business activities are like, and they encourage students to apply what they have been reading and studying. Learning also continues beyond the classrooms, where integral leadership skills are cultivated through the Wharton Leadership Ventures and other programs.

The chance to study under such a pioneering academic learning experience would further enhance my undergraduate years, and allow me to pursue my interests in new, exciting ways. The challenging curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania, combined with the multitude of ways to apply my learning beyond the classroom, would provide me with many more chances to proudly say, "I read it in a book!"

A tiny suggestion -
Horse - riding mania/ craze/ overwhelming desire rather then
Horse crazy stage, makes it little obscure - it does not specify whom are you presenting here yourself or horse. As it is essential to give clear idea about your writing in first sentence.
