essay prompt: Why do you want to attend Pratt and what do you hope to accomplish from your education? Deadline: 1/5
I need help with grammar correction/changing terms/clarity :)

Art isn't merely a hobby to meïit is my love. However, as much as I loved to create, my parents wanted me to be in the medical field, to become a doctor or a pharmacist. During junior high they had banned me from doing art. Despite this difficulty, I managed to take art classes in high school. Last year, I was finally able to persuade my parents to let me attend an art studio. Since then, I have been working in an actual studio, painting with different mediums on a variety of surfaces. I traded in my number 2 pencils for brushes and graphite blocks, and my notebook for sheets of Bristol paper and canvases. Even though I had never worked with these kind of drawing utensils before, they felt very familiar in my hands, almost like I was holding the hand of a very good friend. Here in the art studio, I can create the very stuff in my imagination inspired from the movies I've watched, literature I've read, and the world I live in.

I was introduced to Pratt through word of mouth in my art studio. To see if the students lived up to its reputation, I looked through alumnis galleries and was impressed by the high quality art that I was seeing. To the students, art wasn't merely to fulfill a role of aesthestics- there was thought behind it. An idea meant to be shared through visual means. This discovery made me research Pratt more thoroughly, and I like what it offers and the location it is in.

My desire to attend Pratt is not only because of its close proximity to New York, a city highly concentrated in design and possibilities for internships, but its graphic design major offering with a concentration in illustration. This course offering fits me like a glove- while I love typography and expressing my ideas conceptually, the fine-art aspect of me also appreciates the illustration aspect of the course. I like how Pratt is flexible with its courses, and from this flexibility, I would love to take advantage of the creative writing program, because my art isn't limited only to pictures, but in written prose as well.

It is because of this love for art that I want to do the best that I can in this field. No other subject has held my interest so keenly. I love looking through different artists' websites and galleries and exploring techniques so then I can improve in art. I want to be more than just an artist with good technical skills - I want to be a well-rounded creative individual. I believe that it is at Pratt that I can grow as an artist as well as a thinker.

First off, I am glad you finally got to do what you love most. This essay was very good. Interesting...; however, you need to watch your commas and ending sentences with prepositions. Other than that, you did great. Good luck.
