Today, at this precise moment, I am the girl who is spending Christmas miles away from home because I choose to follow my dreams. In pursuit of my passion for foreign languages and cultures I decided to spend my senior year in France. It has already been three months, and everyday has been a constant roller coaster of emotions and nonstop adventure. I have spent some days lost in thoughts and day dreams, with a little goofy smile on my lips. Some other days were filled with nothing but work; crouched over a text book or my laptop I would grunt and sign in frustration, or exclaim and laugh like a mad woman in victory. I have cried because I missed home, or just out of happiness from seeing the beautiful castles of the Loire Valley. I have been silent an entire day just because I was in a pensive mood; while some other days were spend bellowing out songs and just making noise. In the mist of all the silliness and seriousness there is a girl who is eager to venture into the unknown and just experience life.
In the above paragraph I hope you got the idea of an animated individual who is motivated, driven, and a hard worker. But truly speaking it is difficult to put into words all the complexities that make up my person. I cannot make you understand the range of emotions my body and face express every second of the day unless you have seen me. Nor can I make you laugh unless you have heard my corny jokes. You cannot fully understand the impact different languages and cultures have had on me because you have never heard my unique accent and sometimes shocking ideas. I am different things to different people. To you right now I am a pile of papers, to some people I am an immigrant, to others a traveler/a free spirit, to one daughter, to several a younger sister; I am all these things wrapped up into one.
