Prompt 2: Tell us about a persona; quality, talent, acomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about the quality...relate to the person you are?

The person I am today can be explained by describing a specific incident I experienced as a child; it was a traumautic event that changed and shaped myself for the better. This incident occured about ten years ago. I was awakened by my mother saying, "Rudy get up! You're going to be late for school. Get up mijo!" Still groggy, I walked to the bathroom and twisted the shower knob. Chills immediately rushed thorugh my body while the cold water trickled down my physique. As soon as I got out of the shower and changed into my school uniform, my front door was knocked in. A swarm of policemen with guns drawn ran through the broken down door and searched for my mother. They had a warrant for arrest. I, only seven years of age, was horrified and hysterical. After they handcuffed my mother, a child protective services woman placed her hand around my shoulder and lead me to a white van across the way of my house. While I was crying, I heard on of the policemen say, "We have Rudy Mendoza in our custody. We are proceeding to Wayside Elementary school for Alicia Delarosa." to an anonymous voice over their walkie talkie. Upon hearing my sister's name I began to go frantic. Once my sister entered the white van we embraced each other with so much love and compassion. About sixty minutes after my sister and I were still embracing one another, we finally arrived at an enormous, grey, and stone structured building. A moniker read, "Jamison Child Services Center." The C.P.S. Woman escorted my sister and I into the grey building, To our astonishment, our siblings, nephews, and nieces were waiting for us.

This incident has shaped me into who I am today by educating myself on how illegal careers can alter someone's life down the wrong road of addiction, self-injury, depression, and neglect. Thankfully, I did not chose the wrong road to walk through and possibly me my last. I matured at a very young age, mostly due to the horrendous incident. I developed responsibilty by taking care of myself and my relatives when my mother could not. My childhood was an average yet life changing experience. My mother and father were in and out of prison which, as a result lead me to be watched by my aunt.
