Topic to write on (RIC undergrad admission)

I'll be totally upfront. I am a horrible writer as far as putting things in the write format. I can write as good as I can talk your ear off but I don't know how to pick a topic that tells about me. The prompt RIC has is an awful one about how your heritage relates to you wanting to go to RIC and I cant find the connection between that let alone my own heritage. So the only other option is to write on a topic of my choice (500 words or less)

A little about me. I am a young adult professional. I hold two certificates in health care. I work directly with patients in different settings; nursing homes, rehabs, assisted living. I am a workaholic so I don't have much free time to see friends or go places. A normal day in my life would take place at work... one hour I can be passing medications to patients and the next be in the middle of a code blue on a patient with a trach.

I think it should be easier to write about my work but I don't know if a 250-500 word essay if I can explain and fit in all this medical jargon that I don't even know if the admissions committee will appreciate.

Anybody have any ideas? Or an I just missing the big picture here.

Tell us the exact prompt as the school has worded it.

Discuss a intellectual or cultural interest and how it relates to your desire to attend Rhode Island College.

or choose your own topic. I would like to stick with there prompt, but I may be a total idiot but I cant seem to brainstorm anything usable from the topic. Cultural seems out for me but intellectual? I want to go there for pre-med and biology in hopes to apply to medical school. I've tried to use medical topics for the intellect but don't get too far.

Also, it only needs to be 250 words... I mean what could I even get out in that.

What they want to know is what excites you intellectually. What do you wonder about? What would you really like to learn about? How have you demonstrated intellectual curiosity? Tell them why you want to go to college and then medical school rather than, say, trade school for phlebotomy.

You must have some sort of intellectual activity you enjoy, or specific subject matter you enjoy -- perhaps you are fascinated by the circulatory system, or engrossed by the relationship between mental and physical well-being. Certainly, these are the sorts of things a pre-med student might reasonably claim to be interested in. So, think along those lines . . .
