Essay for entering into SCAD: selected major Photography and film/television

answers: 3
Any help with this is much needed and appreciated, I'm not the best person for writing essays.

The statment of purpose is supposed to be approximately 500 words and should give an overview of the applicant's academic and personal experience, describing peperation for and commitment to further study at SCAD, as well as educational and professional goals and aspirations.

An image can hold the past, it can capture the good times and the bad, and it can unveil both the ugly and the beautiful. Photographs reveal all this. In my mind's eye I see images daily that I long to capture.

Photography I am interested in is documentary, scenic, people and families as they interact, set photography. I'm not a photographer that likes to stay in a studio, I like traveling and being out side. I don't like fake, I like pulling the emotions out of people so you have a true feeling of who they are and what they do.

I also have a love for production as I have for photography; it is both one in the same. In production as photography most people only see the finished work, not many people get to see what goes on behind the scenes. It is something very special in its self. It captivates me to production

In production there are so many different places I would like to work, I believe going to SCAD will help me figure out what part to be apart of.
I like working in pre-production and figuring everything out, production running camera, or being a part of the live production team.

Currently I'm working on finishing up on a certificate program started in my sophomore year of high school for Film/Video at Central Piedmont Community College. Along with this I have worked with a photographer for the past year and worked with a three different production companies, learning real life experience.

I have worked with a photographer on magazine shoots, commercial shoots for websites, weddings, and families. I have also had my own commercial shoot for a company's web site. Along with a photographer, I have worked with productions companies working on such sets for; short films, promo videos, and commercials. I have also worked with a production company that works for live shows every weekend.

I would like to receive my undergraduate from SCAD in photography and film/television. I expect to be able to sharpen my skills not only in photography and production, also with presenting my self with future clients and employers. Eventually I want to be able to teach, I have always been teaching people. I feel I have a gift of teaching; I've even had a few teachers have me teach their students.

Eventually I would like to work with such companies as National Geographic, Discovery, and History channel. More then those companies I would like to have my own company and work freelance.

The photography I am interested in is documentary, scenic, people and families as they interact, set photography.<oh no, this won't do * I'm not a photographer that likes to stay in a studio, I like traveling and being out side. I don't like fake, I like pulling the emotions out of people so you have a true feeling of who they are and what they do.

*I am sorry to say this, but this whole paragraph sounds more like a personal ad than an academic composition. your first sentence was so good! What happened??

Jennifer, is this free-writing? Free writing is a great tool for organizing your thoughts, but it needs a certain level of revision to be coherent. That said, I think you need to get stepping on this beat. It is weird that you start off so strong, get really weak in the middle (almost like another person entirely), and then come on workably strong again below.

I am going to come back and do a quick-fix on the last part, but I hope you will re-work the middle. Until then,
Blue skies!

It was all me, I'm just not very consistent in my writing, you basically see me writing when I'm actually trying, when its 2am, and when I'm distracted. I actually had a complete paper that was really good, but unfortunately the day before I was going to send it off my little cousin put a magnet on my computer and crashed my hard drive.

Anyways I went and tried to rewrite this section-

An image can hold the past, it can capture the good times and the bad, and it can unveil both the ugly and the beautiful. Photographs reveal all this. In my mind's eye I see images daily that I long to capture.

The rewrite belowe-

An image can hold the past, it can capture the good times and the bad, and it can unveil both the ugly and the beautiful. Photographs reveal all this. In my mind's eye I see images daily that I long to capture.

With that in mind I have chosen photography as my major. To have the chance to show people images that make them want to know more about who is in the image, to see a location in person, or to be able to touch to feel the flower. I want to show another way to view people, and view the world.

Let me know what you think.
