I close my eyes and see blue skies and luxuriant trees. I see sunlight and a sense of vitality surrounding me. I see happiness, intelligence, and the desire to learn. I feel invigorated knowing that everywhere I turn there are students just like me: eager to learn and enthusiastic to see what the future holds. This description entails an illustration of what I foresee at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. What draws me to this university is its intense academic program, world-class education, volunteer opportunities, a variety of research programs and much more. Academics is not what just makes a university superior to others, but a well-rounded curriculum, extracurricular activities, and a staff that bolster the inner qualities of a student. Just looking at the number and variety of academic programs University of Wisconsin-Madison offers makes me feel giddy and charged with pure excitement. A program I would undoubtedly take advantage of is the Department of Medicine. From a young age I have found myself extremely interested in the study of life and all things surrounding it. Bio-medical sciences and the many diverse areas of it has always been my first passion. I keenly remember the first time I held my Elmo stethoscope and listened to my grandfather's heartbeat over and over again, mesmerized by the internal sounds coming out of his body. I have always been high involved in extracurricular activities and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison I will surely participate in is Greek Life, the Associated Students of Madison, and a variety of intramural sports. Just daydreaming of all the opportunities the University of Wisconsin-Madison makes me eager and thrilled and as Walt Disney says, "if you can dream it, you can do it."

The Department of Medicine is the college department that houses the major that you want to enroll in. Therefore, it should not become a part of the programs that you will be looking forward to taking advantage of. Rather, point out some programs, internships, and activities within the college of medicine or beyond that you will want to take advantage of and explain why. Be specific and detailed. Right now, your essay has a very general, generic feel to it that does not really speak much about what you know of the university opportunities and programs that could keep you interested in the academic and social offerings of the university. Try to revise the essay to become more detailed and specific in the information you provide in order to provide the admissions officers with a better idea of the reasons you wish to join their student community. It will also show you well you may be able to fit into the campus lifestyle they offer.
