Is Cheating Wrong?
English Assignments

"I would prefer even to fail with honor than to win by cheating." - Sophocles

"'Tis my opinion every man cheats in his own way, and he is only honest who is not discovered." - Susannah Centlivre

Recently, the idea of cheating has gotten much attention in the world of sports, entertainment, and politics. Many celebrities have been accused of gaining a competitive edge through dishonest means. While cheating has mainly been publicly condemned, there are many that feel there are times when cheating can actually be a way of making things better. They believe there is nothing wrong with making yourself a better athlete, entertainer, or politician if what you have done makes the event more entertaining, or assists the greater good. Do you feel that there are times when cheating is acceptable, or is cheating never justified?

My essay: Cheating is wrong. However, nearly everyone has done it once, twice, or even multiple times over their lifetime. The fact is that many people cheat because it is just a way of life ,and they continue to cheat as they grow older. This can be mostly attributed to their belief that it is the only way to succeed in life and become a better person. In today's society, cheating has grown worse than it was many decades ago. Numerous of people knows that cheating is bad, shameless and dishonest. Furthermore they continue to cheat knowing that it is wrong. Therefore, is cheating acceptable as just a normal way of life or is it plain out wrong and never justified and what is the reason to it?

Firstly, Cheating seems to be the only thing many people rely on to be the best and on top of everyone else nowadays. Many students cheat on their tests and homework, etc., and are not ashamed or embarrassed of it. They continue to do this because once they cheat, they establish a pattern and will most likely continue throughout their lifetime and career. With this as their mindset, they now see cheating as the easy way out to most situations that they go through. Most people say that not studying is one of the main reason that these students are cheating.

Secondly, cheating is unfair to us, friends and the people around us in society today. It is important to consider others' feelings and the situation and not think just of themselves, but the people around them as well. It could also lead to trust issues. People who cheat are telling others that they are not trustworthy, and it can be very hard to win back the trust. This could possibly work out in the short term but fail miserably in the long term with them losing everything once the truth comes out. This would make things very difficult for them in life.

Lastly, do not ever be proud of cheating. Whenever he or she accomplish something on their own without cheating, it makes them feel proud and satisfied in a job well done. We all surely heard the saying "everyone does it," well many students have used this to their advantage since everyone else is also cheating. Some people cheat to get ahead, but it's never right to do so. They should not lower their standards just to get further in life. It is dishonest and they will not earn for what they cheated for. If he or she received a poor grade on a test it is because they probably did not study and probably cheated on all of their homework, then they truly earned that grade.

In today's world, cheating has increasingly become a perceived necessary thing to do. Well is it wrong to cheat? Cheating at some point is okay but not a majority of the time though. Cheating can either be a good thing or a bad thing to some people and it all really depends on the type of person. I personally think that cheating is not as bad in any instances unless it interferes in relationships. That is where it becomes a serious problem and just the worst thing to ever do. The outcome to cheating is that cheaters are usually suffering many consequences but it is never a victim less issue. Also, taking credit for someone else's work is not only dishonest but very unreasonable as well. Basically, cheating hurts the cheater and others as well depending upon the circumstances.

Therefore, is cheating acceptable as just a normal way of life or is it plain out wrong and never justified? What is the reason for this?

You need to break up this sentence into two parts. One because it's too long, and the reader needs to breath, and two, because it's two ideas.

With this as their mindset, they now see cheating as the easy way out inmost situations in which they find themselves.

You need to make sure you use of articles is correct, and try not to end a sentence with a preposition

Whenever he or sheoneaccomplish accomplishes something on their own without cheating, it makes them feel proud and satisfied in a job well done.

You need to have your subject match your predicate. In this case you mean anyone accomplishes.

I think you really made the point that cheating is not a victimless crime. Also you present both sides of whether it's right or wrong. I think you seem to have a firm opinion, and that it comes through clearly.

This is a fine essay, with necessary corrections in article use, verb matching and tense, and keeping a balance to the use of opinion, versus fact.
