Hi! This is my essay for Macaulay. It's poorly written and I know I need major help on it! Please help me make it less impersonal and better!

Essay prompt:Tell us about a book, artwork, or lab experiment that changed the way you see the world. What was it about the work that affected you? How did your world become different?" (500 words or less)

Industrialization has revolutionized the world, bringing advanced technology, new innovations, and modernization to civilization. The world has become more technologically efficient with creations of new devices, and the production of goods and materials are at their peaks. Industrialization has managed to increase consumer consumption, but not without a cost; it has also brought issues of materialism and superficial standards into our community. Author Aldous Huxley addresses these issues of consumerism and industrialization in his novel, Brave New World.

Aldous Huxley effectively illustrates a fictional world of pleasure, consumerism, and materialism. He intricately describes a society that bases itself on a caste system of Alphas, Betas, Deltas, and Gammas who are conditioned to think and act a certain way. With brainwashing methods, their society is built on promiscuity, superficiality, and simplicity. There is no such thing as love, anger, or hate; all complexity is removed along with relationships - neither family nor romantic relationships exist in their society. Literature and tradition have also become extinct. The deficiency in moral values shocked me greatly. What the people considered "happiness" was just a façade; they wanted to be safe and secure instead of experiencing life's complexity and difficulty. Their system allowed them to hide from their fears and protect them from any emotional or physical distress. Their lives were laid out before them and they followed accordingly because they chose stability and security over raw emotion and suffering.

Reading Brave New World led me to closely analyze the world I live in. Indeed, industrialization has brought economic and technological benefits. However, it has also made the world into a place where society focuses on the shallow things. Nowadays, people are judged on what brand name objects they own and what one can afford. Moral values and traditions have faded and younger generations are fixated on materialistic items and the newest gadgets. It has made me come to the realization that society is on its brink of its downfall, slowly spiraling to the pits of destruction. Aldous Huxely attempted to bring in notion that industrialization would damage society and he is correct. Society relies so much on technology that it has become too difficult to live without it.

Industrialization has reformed the world in an adverse manner. Technology has given us too many shortcuts and easy way outs which removes suffering and learning. Society has been conditioned to dress, act, and talk in a certain way in attempts to modernize. Brave New World proposes a solution to this issue and emphasizes the needs to reform and to focus on building moral values and living life without shortcuts so that one can build character and principles.

You should try and focus more on how the book affected you. It seems to me you are writing more about what the book says instead of how it affected you and changed affected your life.
