Beyond rankings, location, and athletics, why are you interested in attending Georgia Tech?* 150 word limit

I have no idea how to write this essay. Since my major is undecided, it seems there is little I could write about academy.
And I could not find much detailed information about activities or student life on the college website.
Is there any other aspect that i can write about? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks :)

I can understand how hard it can be for an incoming freshman to decide upon a major so early in the application process. Universities require that because students normally have a major chosen prior to their college applications being sent out. I suggest that you choose a course from their listing to major in that you are familiar with, and have the credentials to apply for just so that you can fulfill that part of the requirement. You can always shift majors or drop subjects once the semester starts. In the meantime, try to talk in general about the reasons why you want to apply to college. Once you have a general idea regarding that, you can write the essay based upon those reasons only instead of talking about college in general, replace the word college with Georgia Tech. Once you have done that, you can post the essay here and we can help you clean it up or develop it to answer the prompt some more :-)

I think i'm going to apply for the college of engineering, but cannot figure out the specific area right now. So that is the main reason why I'm going to attend GA tech. But it just sounds like a cliche >.<

And I found their Problem-Based Learning and Flipped Classroom is a practice that may benefit me. I can learn more efficiently if classes are devoted to problem-solving and instructors act as tutors.

Besides, I intended to talk about student life and activities, but failed to find something other than general discription on the website :(

If you have not paid a physical visit to the school it will definitely be hard to discuss the social life and the kind of students that can be found at Georgia Tech. I actually did a Google search using the keywords "What is social life like at Georgia Tech" and came up with a number of insightful articles and blogs written by students who either visited the campus or are students at Georgia. You may want to run the same keywords through Google so that you can do your own research. It was quite informative and I believe it can help you develop an essay that will answer the prompt requirements. Sites such as "Student Review", "College Confidential", and even Yelp were quite informative with regards to the campus description and student activities available. These websites just may point you in the right direction.

Now, about your major, since you already know what major you want to go into, but have not decided on the specific field yet, then you can write about your interest in studying at Georgia from a general academic point of view. Talk about general subjects rather than majors and concentrate on the the fact that you feel that the university offers you the best options for learning. You can insert the portion about Problem Based Learning and Flipped Classroom here, Just make sure you discuss how these teaching methods apply to you as a learner.

As suggested by its name, Georgia Tech attracted me with its high reputation in engineering. Yet, what interests me most is the education innovation, including Flipped Classroom and Problem-Based Learning which features classes devoted to problem-solving and instructors acting as tutors. I think I will benefit from this practice. Not only will I study more efficiently if certain complex problems which otherwise might take me hours to work out the solution can be solved at a collective effort, but I will also be able to learn more since lecture will not take up class time, during which additional knowledge may be imparted. Apart from academy, a variety of activities available in Georgia Tech, ranging from student clubs to art events will largely enrich my life. I will always step out of my comfort zone and seek self-improvement in Georgia Tech, working hard and playing hard.

I was able to bring your word count down to 126. See my version below and feel free to use it in its current form or as the basis of your next revised version :-)

I am a unique college bound student who is looking to attend a unique university. Georgia Tech, through its "Flipped Classroom" and "Problem Based Learning" classes resonates with me as a unique university where I can flourish because of its open teaching system. It is impossible for me to not learn far beyond my expected abilities because of the classes that are solely devoted to problem solving with instructors acting more as helpful tutors than know-it-all professors. This method of studying will offer me more time to to study and enjoy the social life at Georgia Tech. This unique social atmosphere will beg me to leave my comfort zone and seek self-improvement as I slowly learn to work hard and party hard in a balanced manner.

Hello,

Any admissions officer reading this essay will immediately think what are "expected abilities?" The direction you are heading with this short essay is ok but the execution is not so good. If you want to use a style of teaching as to main reason why you are applying to Georgia Tech, you will ideally need to connect that style of teaching with your style of learning. To do this you will need to state something along the lines of "As a student that values and....independent research...., then you would need to go into how and why that teaching style resonates with you. This will make your essay seem more thought out and believable and not trite. - Admissions Advice Online
