to begin with you can start by improving your vocabulary by reading books in english.
Watching english movies or television series will help you understand the tone and the accent well.

Câu title bạn ghi nhầm ůi kia --> fluently.
Theo tớ nghĩ thě nęn nghe nhiều hơn tręn đŕi, tivi, tập nói theo người bản xứ, nhưng để fluently thě nęn tăng words để có vốn từ để có thể ứng biến trong mọi trường hợp. Tớ chỉ nghĩ được nhięu đó ^^

My best idea is like this:
For five minutes every day, read sentences from books and articles. Read them aloud, so that your brain will have to form the words with your mouth. Then, type them. It is TEDIOUS!! But it is only five minutes. In five minutes, maybe you can type 10 sentences. Do not forget to speak the sentences aloud.

:-)

Thanks for starting this great thread!!!

This has been my problem since i learned English. I try to practice speaking by doing it everyday, looking for useful speaking tips and working a part time.

I am sure this can help you improve English a lot.

I think watching English movies could really help, maybe with subtitles at the bottom. Start by reading level one english book and slowly go to the next level whenever you feel like your improving. I knew English ever since I was young, but I traveled a lot and lived in other places of the world so it kind of ruined my English, but just a bit. So I always go online and read articles about anything I think is interesting and any word i find difficult I would look it up in the dictionary. I hope this information would help!

Make friendship with the natives. They are able to correct your accent. The more conversations you have with them, your speaking will become better.

Read books! :) They are a great way to enhance your word power. And start talking in English for some time even if you make mistakes. This would help you to boost up your confidence and break this barrier! :D

Good Luck!

yep, definitely. And if you are very diligent you will speak the lines aloud throughout the whole movie. Maybe you will even jot some of them down or type them.

:-)

Make it a meditation.

I guess online chatting could be useful to improve the spoken english.
And i suggest preparing some topics to practise, that can be more effective.
I am doing that.

The best way is to talk to people who are native English speakers. They will help correct you when you make an error, and the more you practice at it, the better you'll get. The suggestion by others to watch English movies with English subtitles while reading it out loud is also an excellent suggestion. Practice makes perfect, so keep working on it and you'll gradually improve over time. Good luck!

You could always try to speak with some one that their English is good, they will always correct you, and also listing to music in English and watching tv helps. Try to learn more vocab.

The first step is that you have to fearlessly practice speaking !Don't be shy to communicate with anyone in English. Don't be afraid of expressing your thinking with the wrong grammar.(Of course, you have to use the appropriate wording.)

Secondly, you can practice your speaking with friends. Also, you can record your voice when you practice speaking. Listening to the record over and over again. This way can improve on your pronunciation.

Of course, you have to reading English boos as more as your possible to learn more vocab from it.
All things are difficult before you try it. Keep trying and finally you can do it.

Here's my opinion:

If you are living in an English speaking country, you have more chance to speak English everyday, every time and every where. Study in English, working with native speakers, go out and speak, hang out with native speakers, speak to them on the phone etc.

If you are in a non-English speaking country, it's harder to be fluent in speaking English but it's achievable, I think. Again, make friend with native speakers, try to do read, listen, and speak English as much as you can. I suggest reading short story or even kids' story and try to speak few paragraphs out loud 1,2,3 times until you think you can speak them fluently. For listening, definitely this is for copying how native speakers speak and certainly helps, I watched "The Simpson" it's my favourite, or maybe you can try "F.R.I.E.N.D" another very popular TV series.

Then good luck!

Hi, I'm Vietnamese - so my English sometime likes I translate it directly from Vietnamese language to English (not like the way as Google) but my lecture in my university said that. Do you know how i can improve it? I will work on PR industry so it really necessary to have a good English (or Academic)!

He said I had to simplify my sentences . S + V + O and that's it. Make it simple because it makes people want to read!

I read some news in BBC or the sun. i see a lot of complicated sentences!! So do you have any idea ?

For me, to speak fluently, just listen and speak a lot.
It is the best way to improve your speking skill not only for Enlgish but also for every language.

Even if there are some mistakes with speaking, but it is ok because we are not native speaker!
Do not hesitate and afraid to speak in English!
I always keep it in mind, and try to speak!

Good luck with our English skill!

Cheers,
Sia

I just heard this from a certain person. Maybe we should all try this if we want to improve our skills in English speaking or to broaden our vocabulary. Try cutting up an article on a newspaper and stick it to a bond paper, then highlight all of the words that you have never heard before or words that catch your attention. Then at the bottom part of the bond paper, write those highlighted words and its meaning (you look for it on a dictionary of course). And then try to use those words whenever you write something or converse with someone. I think it's a good idea, I'm planning on doing it now. Hope it will help you too

Here are some of the things that worked for me when I was learning English. Since everyone has a different learning style, what worked for me won't necessarily be best for you, but hopefully this will at least help you along:

+Listen as much as possible:
+Judge yourself: when you practice speaking by repeating along with a recording, be somewhat hard on yourself, try to imitate as close as possible to the speaker's pronunciation, and most importantly, the intonation of the sentence - this will help you carry out a more natural and smooth conversation in English.

+Variety is key: the key to speaking English fluently is sentence structures. The more structures you know, the more comfortable you will be when trying to express your thoughts.

good luck :)

Have a friend practice with you, of course it is better if communicate with an English native speaker, but it often costs.
So... practice with friends would be a more economic choice.

Hi All!
I think your gathering has a profound effect on your spoken skills. I found many people having good schooling can speak english fluently maybe because they have been trained from their childhood. So my suggestion to you guys is that try to give your children good schooling.

OK,I guess you aren't a native speaker. As far as I am concerned, the best way to improve oral english is to attempt take conversations to a native speaker,or you can go to listen some completely English-spoken class, and try to listen the english lectures, your favourite subject
