Persuade others to be open to future technologies

I must give a persuasive speech on a topic that has something to do with my vocation. Our topics must be controversial It must be 10 minutes in length. My vocation is computer science. I'm thinking about persuading my audience to be open to technological advances in order that the future may be awesome. Some controversial topics I could address are artificial intelligence and life extension. Suggestions of other such technologies are very welcome.

Artificial intelligence is controversial in that many scientists are warning of possible outcomes. There are some ethical concerns with life extensions. However, while these fields raise some issues, it's not as though they will stop being researched because of these. In other words, I'm not sure what I would be trying to persuade the audience of. Whether or not the audience agrees with something, research will continue.
