bin 1 / - Jul 18, 2009 #1Hi All,There is one question that is continuously annoying me:If I have to introduce myself in front of several people; how shall I start?"I am XYZ and ..." or "My name is XYZ and..."I have heard from somewhere that it is a wrong practice to start a statement saying "My name is XYZ"...It should always be "I am XYZ"...Please suggest what is the correct usage. Thanks in advance...
EF_Sean 6 / 3,491 Jul 18, 2009 #2Never given it much thought, really. For formal introductions, I'd probably use the "My name is" construction, personally, but neither is likely to produce a particularly negative reaction from your audience.
EF_Simone 2 / 1,986 Jul 19, 2009 #3Either is fine in a formal setting. Informally, people tend to say "I'm..." rather than "My name is..."
