This conference will be a two-day event, discussing about the issues in Generic Drugs.
Pharmaceutical Society of Taiwan is the host, together with another international organization, named Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations.

President Hsu, President Chang, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
I appreciate your kind invitation for the opening address at the Conference of Generic Drugs in Asia, hosted jointly by Pharmaceutical Society of Taiwan, and the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations. This conference invited expertise internationally and locally in total amount of nineteen, including government official, scholars, representatives of pharmaceutical industry and consumers, in which we will have a full discussion of every crucial issue regarding generic drugs. On behalf of Department of Health, I sincerely present my gratitude for all the sophisticated management by our hosts. This conference is truly as a successive event of importance after the FAPA Congress last year in Taipei. In such occasion, I would like to deliver my utmost greeting for our international scholars and professionals - thank you for your contribution in the following two days, and thank you for all of your participations; it certainly will be a fruitful weekend.
Promotion of use of generic drug is obviously in trend of the world, due to again of population and the mounting of medical expense in every country. Furthermore, most of the pharmaceutical industry in Taiwan is generic oriented. My authorities manage to assure the quality of manufacturing by following the standards of GMP, to cGMP, and to PIC/S GMP in recent years. All of these are for one sol purpose - to ensure the safety, the efficacy, the quality of drug before it entering the market; and, the drugs in the market are all approved with the guarantee of my authorities. The main goal of this conference is to explore the generics of crucially importance in different respective; from the law standing point, government policy, industrial point of view, to the vision of customers. I believe the big discussion among each stakeholder should poses positive meaning, and we can look forward to its influence for our future reference in reality.
The two-day conference is beneficial for the connection between the medical development in Taipei and the international collaboration. The duty of Department of Health is to assure the health of citizens, to offer our people the approachable health care and intact medical services. All our health care providers, industries, and consumers are our vital partners. We hope, in the future, we can make the maximum contribution to the health of human beings with the cooperation among governments, and each profession.
