Thank you for your time and helping in advance!

Dear Sirs,
I am writing to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship. I hope I am suitable for this excellent program as studying in China is very important for me.

My first acquaintance with China was in my early childhood when I watched an educational film about this beautiful country. I was surprised that everything is different in that remote and charming land. Later I began to listen to Chinese songs, to watch Chinese movies and cartoons and though I did not understand anything I enjoyed it very much.

In 2008 I entered Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, one of the most important and key universities of our country. I chose linguistics for my major as learning foreign languages was always interesting for me. Unfortunately, we could take only French or Spanish as the second language, so, I decided that it would be the latter one. But I was still fond of Chinese culture, and to know more about it I decided to take a course of Mandarin in our university. I studied it only one semester in Russia and in September, 2011 I got a wonderful opportunity to go to Shandong University for a year.

It was a great event for my whole life as my old dream came true. I was impressed by Chinese traditions, customs and style of life. I enjoyed studying the language in Jinan as all teachers were real professionals. They did not say a word in English or Russian that is why in several weeks we began to understand almost everything.

Being at Shandong University, I firmly resolved to continue my study in China. I want to get my Master's degree in this country because it would be an inestimable contribution to my future life and career. China is a powerful country with strong economy and inviolable traditions. Our countries always had solid relations. Russia-China relationship represents perhaps the single most significant, dynamic and complex international link in the world and I am sure that obtaining a Master's degree in China will be a very valuable experience. In our country studying in China is very prestigious as Chinese universities are one of the best in the world.

I want to continue my study in your country because I think that there are many defects in Russian Master's programs as we came to European educational standards not long ago. In China they are more developed and teaching is of high quality. Modern China is a land of growth, and education is a huge part of China's dynamic new economy. Chinese culture places special emphasis on education, so a Chinese education is both meaningful and rewarding.

I am going to become a highly qualified specialist with strong knowledge of the language. The Scholarship and studying in Chinese university would help me very much for my subsequent personal and career development.

Mandarin is the most widely-spoken language in the world that is why I want to know it very well. It will help me in business, work and travel because I have already decided that I want to devote my life to China and Chinese people.

Not only in Russia but in the whole world there is great demand of specialists with written and spoken skills in Mandarin because China's economy is already one of the largest and is still growing. Studying abroad in China will make my resume stand out in a competitive job market.

The Scholarship would let me learn Mandarin, one of the key languages needed now, and also different subjects in this perfect language. I would attend class and communicate with Chinese people, developing the intercultural understanding and skills employers increasingly value.

Living in China, I will experience firsthand the most rapidly changing society on earth. With over 5,000 years of history, Chinese civilization is one of the oldest in the world, yet it is evolving fast before our eyes. I will develop a new perspective, and become aware of how interconnected the Russian Federation and China are in facing many issues.

During the future years I wish to complete my study successfully, obtaining my Master's degree. Through this program, I expect to deepen my knowledge in my field and to improve my language skills. In this way, I will have a solid foundation for becoming a successful specialist when I am back to Russia. Getting a Master's degree in China means my acquiring stronger research abilities, greater language proficiency, broader international perspectives; those qualities for becoming an expert of Chinese that are less accessible to graduate students undertaking their programs in my country.

Obtaining the degree in China and learning Mandarin is very interesting for me as it opens the way to different important fields such as Chinese politics, economy, history or archaeology. But to study Chinese finally means to study a culture, a people. It will help me to understand what is behind the language, what makes it powerful, and how it actually functions in Chinese society.

The study of Chinese literature and culture will help me bridge the cultural gap, better understand my future Chinese counterparts, and create a platform of knowledge and understanding with them that is crucial for effective communication. By studying in China I will gain academic success, grow as an individual and go on to bring great honor to my homeland when I return.

Studying in China is very important for my career because, first of all, in the Russian Federation most employers prefer to hire people who speak more than one language. China has become a huge market, and business leaders are looking for people who can speak Chinese and operate successfully in a Chinese cultural context. Secondly, knowing Chinese may give me an edge when competing for an important position. Finally, China is a powerful country that plays a major role in world affairs.

The Scholarship would make me more competitive in career development, better prepared for a global or multicultural work environment, enhance my experiences, knowledge, and judegment, strengthen my skills academically, personally, and socially.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Sincerely,
