National Honor Society values Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Community Service. Compose an essay in which you explain why you should be inducted into your High School's National Honor Society. How do you demonstrate and incorporate these values into your life?

"To err is human, to forgive is divine"- Alexander Pope. In the spring of third grade, I was in class when I got unexpectedly called up to the principal's office. On my way to the principal's office, I attempted to decipher the reasons I was called up there. Maybe it was something I did or something I said. Whichever message awaited me, the walk from my classroom to the principal's office was the longest walk I've ever had. When I arrived at the office, the principal sat me down in his chair and gave me an uneasy smile. "(NAME), I'm sorry, you will not proceed to the 4th grade this coming fall." I had failed the third grade. As time passed, I reflected on this failure in my life. I decided that I'm not going to let one glitch determine the rest of my life. I forgave my downfall and moved on.

These last few years of my life have been the most crucial. In the last few years, I found responsibility and purpose. My most prominent community service experience was at the S.P.C.A. Thrift store which sold numerous amounts of refurbished items that you could find in everyday life. They sell almost anything from old furniture to modern electronics. I was passed to testing electronic equipment, cutting wires off the electronics for recycling, stocking electronic items, applying rubber bands on electronics, sweeping the self-storage container, collecting heavy boxes, dusting glassware, and cleaning ceramics. What I learned is that working with other employees made me realize how the real world functions. This experience has taught me about the reality of adulthood and how to persevere in life.

I wanted to build a strong base by taking rigorous courses for all academic and elective classes to achieve my short-term goals. I took my time playing into the part of an efficient and qualified being. In fall of 2012, I took college success strategies course. In my philosophy of success, key strategies I planned to incorporate in my life were creating self-motivation, managing time more clearly, and developing a better emotional intelligence. Keeping me motivated in doing my work will help me stay focused. In addition to time-management, I will demonstrate it by knowing how to spend my time doing important things rather than less important things. Overall,

your anecdote in the beginning was well constructed. good job.

Whichever message awaited me, the walk from my classroom to the principal's office was the longest walk I've ever had(took)

I decided that I'm not going

(don not use contractions in a formal essayContractions are the joining of two seperate word for example: I'm, Don't, Doesn't instead seperate the words put I am in this sentence not I'm

Thrift store which sold numerous amounts of refurbisheditems that you could find in everyday liferefurbished household items

hey, it seems like a basic essay, but it started to fall apart towards the end you need to have a stronger prose on volunteer work and academia. what did you do? what did you learn? where is your future?what are your goals? Be specific, do not just state something and move on. we need details, about you, you are the center of this essay not your school not your thrift store we need to see your personality
