I have to write extenuating Circumstance letter for university because they need to provide it. I don't know how to write properly, but I have written the best i can do to. Please look over my letter and if there is somethings that I need to fix it, please notice me!!
Dear administration of York University
I am appealing to York University admission office on my bad grades for requirements. With this letter, I hope to explain and clarify my extenuating circumstance, which have affected my academic grades.
Ever since I started my first year in University of Waterloo, I was excited and worried about the university. To be honest, University of Waterloo have good system on co-op program. So, I have chosen University of Waterloo instead of other universities. First term of first year in University of Waterloo was lower than the average grades that I have expected, and the results of the second term was as same as first term except one course. I have been out of co-op program because I didn't meet the requirements. The program, which is economics, was not the one what I wanted to study and which is not about mathematics. The first term of second year was my chance to get back in to the program, but I was studying my own to get the certificate for actuarial science. I had to study the university courses, but actuarial science was the one that I wanted to study and the courses that I took in university are only about business and a little bit on science. It will only sound like excuses, but I have heard from graduated students and people who have success in their career that study what you enjoy and like to do. Surviving from university depends on how the students do in university, but before that, I made the decision absentmindedly on my career. I even stayed in high school for one more year, but I spent that one year in vain. However, I personally think that it is relief because I have found the program and the field that I really want to study, which is accounting. I could have stayed in Canada and take classes from adult school or do part-time job, but I started to study AIPCA (Amercian Accounting Certificate in Korea to not waste my precious time before September. Then, I started to like accounting more and more.
I had shocking news from UW to withdraw from the school. In first year, I didn't enjoy studying economics in first year and always delayed studying. However, ever since I started accounting deeply, I started to study and always concerned studying first. GPA and test scores are major factors, but I am really hope to study in York University. I am ready to start studying again when I go back to Canada. Thank you for reading my letter and reviewing my situation. I greatly appreciate it.
