Hi everybody,

First of all, I would like tell you that I am french. Thus excuse me for my poor english.

I have a research paper to write (3000 words) with for subject : Obedience.

My problem is to find a thesis and its three arguments that must confirm my thesis.

My first thesis was :" A righteous society leads undoubtibly to be composed of a suitable distribution of obedience and disobediance".

My 3 arguments were :
1° Obedience lo law allows us to live in community.
2° Disobedience of citizens allows society to progress.
3° In righteous society, people are free to make choices without obey or disobey.

The problem is that my professor told me that I can't write one argument on obedience and one on disobediance. For her I argue on each side.

Can you help me to find arguments because I have no idea how to argue about this thesis?

Secondly, I was interested to write a thesis on the extreme disobedience. (If the first thesis is to difficult to developed) Thus if you have some ideas or starting points of thinking, I listen you

Thanks for your attention.

hello friend, this is great topic. I think you should start by reading thoreau's "civil disobedience."

The difficulty comes from the topic's ambiguity.Obedience can be good or bad, depending on what is happening. You need a scenario to help you.

It will also be good if you read aout john locke's work about the purpose of government. The thing is... we need to be obedient when government is just and effective!

Need help on making a specific topic for an English paper on obedience.

I have to write a five page paper on obedience for my English class but the topic is obedience which I'm struggling with because it is so broad.

I was thinking about writing on obedience in relationships (from groups and peer pressure to parent-child relationships) but I'm feeling like even that is too broad.

Can anyone help me narrow this down or give an idea on where to go with the topic?

Thank youu

I do not know when you were born or who you are, but if I was on this topic I would gear my paper on how peoples obedience has changed over the past 50 years. A lot of children now a days do not have the manners they use to (e.g. Use of words like yes Ma'am, no Sir or Yes, please, and thank you. They say things like ya, na, gimme). It blows my mind how some parents do not take the time/discipline to teach this to their children.
