hi i need to do a research paper, however i can't formulate my thesis statement correctly and clearly.

TOPIC: do social expectations affect people and their behavior?

THESIS STATEMENT: social expectations alienate people and their behavior and do not allow them to express themselves in a comfortable way.

i think the word "comfortable is too vague. and i would like to be more specific and talk about stereotypes and social roles. but i don't know how to put it down...please help me

thank you!! :)

To me, the topic wants you to discuss the how people and their behavior are influenced by what is expected in a social situation. Maybe you can say something to the extent of this: Behavior can be influenced by social situations and the expectations of the individuals involved. I hope this helps.

I agree! But instead of trying to change the words, make the meaning of the statement a little more... a little more.... well, meaningful. Make a statement that some people might disagree with.

Google this: arguable thesis

I often tell people to google that.

Be creative, and make your own unique observation in addition to this truism.

:-)
