I suggest beginning your research with an online search on "consumerism". What exactly about consumerism will you be writing about? Will it be a broad definition of the term, a psychological analysis of it? What about its relationship with something else, or its effect on another subject? Once you know what you are writing about you can search for "consumerism" and your other subject.
You can also contact your academic advisor for assistance in finding research resources; library materials, study groups, etc.
