Death Penalty Research Question

I need help with finding information on the death penalty. I need statictacs on if it is a crime deterrent and how much it cost verses life in prison and how many people are for the death penalty and how many are a gainst it. My thesis statement is The Death Penalty has been around for sometime and I believe it should stay around forever.
