The requirements can be anything. I have started it but I just need some pointers. Here's what i have so far...
(Intro)Why did the world accept Michael Jackson after everything he did over the past years? He has gone through plastic surgery, hormone change, and make-up and fashion appearances. Michael Jackson has proven that only in American a black man can have so many plastic surgeries and is still famous. Over the last ten years Michael Jackson has been the main celebrity people actually pay attention to. Everyone has so many questions for him. For example; is he still the King of Pop? And what was going through his mind when he changed his skin color? Was he embarrassed? Looking back on his childhood, his addiction to plastic surgery, and his mental break-downs, might answer these question people ask.

He was the seventh out of nine brothers and sisters. His childhood was very depressing because he was mentally and physically abused by his father. Joseph Walter who was Michaels' father made fun of his nose by calling him names and scaring him during the nights, by scrawling through his window and just scream so he won't leave his window open. Was this the first step to insanity? I wonder. (Not finish)

Their first four singles "I Want you back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There" it became the number one hit in 1970 which was the first in pop history. During this period of time while Michael Jackson was in The Jackson 5, he was referred as the King of Pop. (I haven't finished this section).

Many people bought his albums and concert tickets. Except singing wasn't the only thing he was good at. In fact he was the scarecrow for the old movie The Wizard of Oz. Michael loved playing this part so much he didn't what the filming to end. During his time in acting he did a number of commercials. Pepsi hired Jackson as a spokesman and did a number of commercials for them. During a set he was told to walk down a flight of stairs while there would be fireworks going behind him. Michael did was he was told but he was coming down too fast and a firework it his hair on fire. This wasn't pretty at all, he got third degree burns. Plastic surgery was the only decision he had to make if he wanted to live. Following this he had another surgery on his nose so he could breathe properly.

Michael gets his nose slightly narrowed and his eyebrows shaped. Was this his only surgery? Surprisingly, No he actually had three nose jobs, and much more. He got permanent eyeliner tattooed around his eyes in 1985, cheek bones, and a fake chin implant. I believe that Jackson got so many surgeries was because, when he looked in the mirror he saw his father Joseph starring back at him and this is the one thing he didn't want to see. You have many biographical facts and statistics, but no sources cited; make sure you have your information properly credited. For instance, you write "In fact he was the scarecrow for the old movie The Wizard of Oz." The original Wizard of Oz was filmed in 1939, a full 19 years before Jackson was even born, and Ray Bolger played the scarecrow (imdb.com/title/tt0032138/). It seems that you are referring to the 1978 film, "The Wiz," in which Jackson does play the scarecrow; but you need to make sure you are clear and use proper citations so that your credibility remains intact.

Your topic statement made me laugh out loud. Thanks for improving my day. Yes, like Gloria wrote, it is important to cite some sources. Backing up what you say... this is especially important when you are calling somebody a nut job. :)
I also want to suggest that you should decide what YOUR OWN theory is about why the world is still intrigued by him despite everything. You should make a compelling argument so that all the insight you got while reading about this -- insight into human nature, the meaning of life, cosmetic surgery -- all of that insight can be conveyed to the person who rads your essay. You can communicate deeply with the reader by making a meaningful argument with strong topic sentences that begin each paragraph... and then backing them up with references to articles and books, like Gloria said.
So what is the answer...why does the world still celebrate people who have proven themselves to be nut jobs? I'm interested to know your theory... I'll try to come up with one of my own. I'm sure you'll find lots of theories when you read articles that other people have written about him.

Ok thanks for the help Gloria, I changed the The Wizard of Oz part making sure it was the right date and film thanks for correcting me. What you do you mean about the no sources cited? and also do i have a pretty good introduction or do i need to add a little bit more. This paper has to be 16 PAGES so i have alot of work to do.

What exactly is your thesis? You ask "Why did the world accept Michael Jackson after everything he did over the past years?" Is your essay meant to be an attempt to answer this question? If so, you might want to establish in your introduction that the world does still accept him (I was under the impression he had become a living joke, a punchline guaranteed to get a laugh regardless of context). You might also want to look at why he became so popular to begin with. Was it his image? Or his music? If the latter, then his messed up personal life doesn't seem so important. If it was the former, then any public acceptance is a tad confusing. In any event, your essay at the moment seems to be mostly a biographical sketch of Jackson, which may be okay if it is merely a research project. A well argued essay centered on a thesis would be more interesting, though.

Think of what a collage looks like. It has a lot of pictures that are put together to show something in a powerful way.
In your paper, you can use articles like pictures in a collage. Find 10 articles about MJ and really ENJOY them for their interestingness. After you finish each article, reread the intro and the conclusion. Then, write a paragraph about it.
So, if you read 10 articles, you'll have 10 paragraphs. :-)
