I have gone through a number of essays on this forum and i must say they have been very helpful so far. Here is a draft of my own SOP on which I need you to review and make suggestions. Please treat as urgent I hope to submit my application before the first week in September. Thanks.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE - MSc. Exploration Geophysics
My name is Moyosoore Adeoni, Female, 23 years of age and a recent Bachelor's degree holder in Applied Geophysics. I have always been interested in courses involving calculations. Geophysics affords me such opportunity, being an exciting combination of physics and the earth sciences. It is even more fascinating because it not only involves calculations, but also shows the applicability of these calculations in obtaining useful information from the earth and its environment.

My undergraduate study in Applied Geophysics has given me a thorough exposure to the fundamentals I need to pursue a career along the Geophysics line. Apart from the theoretical courses such as Gravity, Magnetics, Seismic method amongst others, we were also exposed to a number of fieldwork in different parts of Nigeria. As a first step to achieving my aspiration of building a career in the upstream oil and gas sector, I decided to carry out my final year project on the topic - "Integration of Seismic, Petrophysics and Multi-attribute Analyses in the Characterization of Some Fields in the Niger Delta". This required that I do some processing and interpretation on seismic and well data using the SMT Kingdom suite, OpendTect and Rokdoc software and also make interpretation and deductions from the processed data. In the course of this work, I was able to predict some areas in the fields as good hydrocarbon prospects. I found it quite interesting and educative, as it was my first attempt at using these Softwares in interpreting data. I was thrilled to learn new skills, which somehow left me yearning to get a deeper understanding of reservoir characterization as a whole.

After graduation, I had the pleasure of working in the Upstream Investment Management arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for a period of one year, where I had the opportunity to better appreciate seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation and well data amongst others. Here, I monitor the progress of seismic acquisition, processing and re-processing activities of Production Sharing Contract (PSC) companies, to ensure cost control and timing in line with agreed schedule. I also participated in G&G (Geological and Geophysical) workshops/presentation to keep abreast with new innovations in the oil & gas industry. At the end of the one-year period, I had improved greatly in my ability to work under pressure as well as working effectively in a team environment. I was also involved in a number of technical workshops and monthly meetings organized by some geoscience professional associations. It was during this one-year period that I submitted an abstract of my final year thesis online and was fortunate to be shortlisted to present my work at a national conference of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE). I felt very elated as my technical presentation was applauded by many industry experts, participants from various schools and my colleagues. Moreover, comments were also made on how I could improve on my work. This also has greatly motivated me to increase my project work to a professional level by seeking to obtain a Masters degree in Exploration Geophysics. One memorable aspect about this conference was when an alumnus of my school who now works in one of the International Oil Companies in Nigeria commended my work and encouraged me to develop expertise in the area of Reservoir Characterization, seeing my keen interest in my project topic. I have also been privileged to work on a brief internship with CGGVeritas, a processing company, where I was taken through the basic processing sequence for seismic data.

Having sought numerous advice and made enquiries from various industry experts and my course adviser in school, I have decided to specialize in Reservoir Characterization; integrating seismic, petrophysical and reservoir data to make predictions on oil and gas fields. To achieve this, I need a unique academic and professional advantage which I believe would be excellently delivered by your esteemed university. A Masters degree in Exploration Geophysics will not only provide me with an in-depth knowledge of the exploration aspect of geophysics, but will also be an opportunity to be better positioned as an expert in reservoir characterization, who would be able to contribute meaningful solutions to the world's energy challenges. I hope to be part of Prof ... 's research work on ...

Inspite of my busy schedules in school, I usually create time for leisure by engaging in activities like playing table tennis, listening to music, participating in musical concerts and reading motivational books. These have been very helpful in my work-life balance and also helped me manage stress and tension.

Upon completing the Masters' program, I plan to join the workforce and make significant contribution to Exploration and Production projects in any reputable oil & gas company and continue to learn and excel in whatever I do.

Nice job! I think there is little correction to be made to your paper. I picked out a few minor things that you may want to change :)
