SOP Corporate law LLM -India

Hi,

I am from India. i plan to do my masters in corporate law from UK. While I aim to come back to India and start practising in some corporate law firm, I am unable to understand how do I write it in my SOP. How do I show that I am making some contribution to the community through it. Can some one please phrase me 2-3 lines or give some example so that i get an idea as to how do i go about it.

I think you are asking for advice about expressing that you want to study abroad and then return to India in order to contribute to society.

Well, what corporations might you work for in order to make a difference in India? Maybe you could work in the public sector and represent the government somehow? If you are practicing law and influencing outcomes, you will either make a good impact or a bad one, depending on your principles and your philosophy. You need to decide how you are going to help improve people's lives in India if you want that to be your focus. How can a corporate lawyer improve people's lives in India?

If you answer that question, it might be a good way to start! I hope this is helpful; corporate law is something I do not know much about.

In addition to why a master's corporate law, you also need to convince the AO of why the UK. Do you already practice law in India? Wouldn't you also need a local Indian law degree?

In short, as per your request, 2-3 lines or give some example so that i get an idea of the SOP:
1) Short introduction of yourself, your background and qualifications, why corporate law and why the UK and this particular institution
2) Follow up paragraphs to develop each point with info that highlights why you should be admitted to XYZ lawschool.
3) Conclude with a recap of the most compelling convincing arguements of your purpose for the LLM in the reader's school.

thanks for your replies. I understand what you are trying to tell me. Perhaps I am not able to frame . That is, how can a corporate lawyer constribute to the society? Please give me some example or frame it for me.The modules I am applying for are not suitable for a job in government agency. So putting that would look a bit out of place. When I asked you for examples, I was asking about the first question, that related to corporate law.

Does this mean that you do not have any examples of how a corporate lawyer can contribute to society? What do you want to do as a corp lawyer? help defend the poor against the rich? help defend nonprofit orgs that help the poor defend against corporates? or help corporates defend against other corporates?

It seems that you do not know your destination. First, define where you want to be in the spectrum of corporate law. (If you don't know, google.) Then, you will have to come up with why you need to go to the UK.
