Thanks to my fascination for science and technology and keen interest in Computer Science and Networks, I wish to pursue the Master of Computer Science with Specialization in Networking & Distributed Systems at your prestigious university. While I was working at XXXX, I observed that researchers with a bachelor's degree had only a glimpse of their fields where as those with advanced degrees had an encyclopaedic understanding, which empowered them to think deeper about the complex problems and propose novel solutions. The creative satisfaction they enjoyed and the holistic perspective they possessed inspired me and strengthened my resolve to go for higher education. I felt the immediate need to develop deeper understanding of the concepts to be an authority in my area of interest and this thought process provoked me to pursue a practical oriented master's course. On careful investigation, I have found that XXXXXX features a highly developed educational system which focuses on practical and hands-on knowledge and caters to the requirements of the industry.
Because of my varied academic and professional background, I firmly believe that I can make significant progress in my learning and help on-going research efforts. My short-term aspiration is to gain thorough understanding of the concepts and finer nuances in both theoretical and practical aspects of Computer Science. In the longer run, I envision myself working for a PhD with a Computer Science Department in a top university actively involving in cutting edge research projects. A master's degree in this field would be a stepping-stone to achieve the said objectives and provide ample opportunities to pursue my career interests.
My fascination with Computers began ever since my childhood. I had burning penchant to understand how computer games and banking applications were created. I completed my high school with 90.5% during which I was awarded 6th best in state level science competition. Later I joined the undergraduate engineering course through a state level common entrance exam in which I was among the top 5% of all the people who appeared for the exam. I joined the program for Information Technology which was touted to be one of the most advanced and challenging courses offered by XXXXX, India.
My further exploration of this field, primarily through C Programming, Data Communications and Computer Networks courses during my study at XXXX University has given me numerous learning opportunities. From then, I tried to strengthen my knowledge in Computer Science by pursuing various Courses and attending different seminars. A flexible course structure at my institute allowed me to pursue various Computer Science electives which helped me develop interest in areas like Computer Networks, Mobile Computing, DBMS, Object Oriented Programming and Image Processing.
During my third and final years of engineering we, a batch of four students, have developed a Plagiarism Detection Engine for Source Codes which deals and measures the similarity between two input codes in C. It measures the similarity based on structure and semantic metrics using various formulas. This was considered as one of the best academic projects of the class and we were awarded an A+ grade for the project.
On completing my graduation, I joined XXXXXX, the largest and the topmost IT Company in India. I was trained in various IT and software related topics and concepts through the 'Initial Learning Program' initiative of XXX. An enriching experience, during this time, I was trained by senior professionals on several facets like programming concepts and best practices, operating systems, databases, team work, etiquettes. After the training, I was assigned to an internal project for XXX for which I was trained in telecom fundamentals and technologies used in the XXX core telecom solutions. While involving in this project, I was exposed to a variety of technologies like Java, J2EE, DBMS, Pl/SQL, Apache and Eclipse. Now, as I complete almost a year of professional life, I believe that I have the necessary foundation and wish to channel my efforts towards my goal of pursuing a Masters.
I am absolutely confident that pursuing masters in your university is appropriate one for me, since it provides a unique mix of educational advantages. It is one of the most dynamic universities providing superior education in both theoretical and practical aspects of Computer Science with the help of this meticulously designed course. I am aware of the challenges and hardships of graduate studies, and I am confident my perseverance and drive
will see me through successfully. Any financial aid would lessen the burden on me and would
help me perform better. I am looking forward in assimilating both, the technical skills and the
intellectual discipline to follow my future dreams along with making vital contributions to the
global society as a whole.
