Explain your reasons for pursuing a degree from Drexel; your short-term and long-term career plans; and how your background, experience, interest, and/or values, when combined with a Drexel degree, will enable you to pursue these goals successfully

"What do you want to do with your life?" The question I have been asking myself ever since I was a child; "The human body fascinates me, its limits and its potential, I want to know them and understand it all." This was the answer I told myself, for as long as I remember.

Looking back, it was naïve to think that an individual can know it all. But this became the basis of way of living. I now know that there is too much information about the human body to rationalize. Knowing this, I was still intent on knowing more. "There has to be a way to enhance the human body.

It's was not until my second year in college, after seeing an advertisement of an artificial heart, that I realized, that is what I want to do. The Idea of replacing organs with foreign materials fascinated me. The process of enhancing or even replacing an organ with a more efficient object is astounding. I was at awe when I first learnt of homeostasis. I even imagined of ways of overcoming the second law of thermodynamics, but to break through the limits of the human body really fascinates me.

In the long run, I plan to be in the medical engineering field where I can help discover ways to create artificial organs or even limbs. I want to know how much technological materials we can integrate into the human body. I want to break though our anatomical limits, push it further into a more reliable and durable vessel. I will do this by acquiring a Masters degree in a field that integrates non-organic technology and biomedical procedures to the human body.

Currently, I work in a program that supports children that have mental disorders. It provides a better understanding of the flaws the human mind can possibly have. It reminds me to appreciate how lucky I am that I was not born with these disorders. Needless to say, the human mind is only but a part of the body as a whole. Then "for numerous organs, there are numerous defects and flaws." I realize. Through anatomy and physiology I found out we are flawed by design, but there must be ways to overcome this design. For now, I plan to stay on this program as I acquire my Masters degree in Biomedical engineering. As a human, it makes me realize how lucky I am and how much more can be done to enhance ourselves.

Drexel University is known for its impressive Engineering programs. I plan employ the knowledge Drexel will provide to get a better grasp on the technology and non-biological materials. The university's Co-op program is advantageous to a student for when the time arises I will have that extra hands on experience before starting out in my career. The University's affiliate Hahnemann hospital is an excellent resource for experience and information towards my actualization towards the medical field. I chose Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems as my first choice since no other University appeals to me more as I prepare myself towards my goals.
