Hi, I plan to study electronics design engineering at a university in Japan (master degree). in the application form, they want "Field of specialization studied in the past" which is in my case Mechatronics engineering.

what should I write exactly? (they want it to be detailed)

I can write what I have learned in my undergraduate course of mechatronics, but is it what they want? how to divide the essay?

can you give me any engineering similar essay example?

this is in the "application form", there is a "field of study post" form that contains these 3 stuff I must write:

1- Present field of study.
2- Your research topic upon arrival in Japan: Stipulate the research you wish to carry out in Japan.
3- Study program in Japan: (Describe in detail and with specifics - particularly concerning the ultimate goal(s) of your research in Japan)

Now I can not tell the difference between them!!! can you help me?

thanks

hi, here is my trial:

____________

I studied Mechatronics engineering in Tafila technical university. I chose this field because I think it is the future of engineering from many aspects. It is a field that allows gaining many skills enough to enroll in a lot of sects in engineering world such as automation, embedded systems design, electronics design, product design, mechanical CAD, PCB design and manufacture, and a lot more. Mechatronics for me is the engineering of the future.

In my first year in 2009, I studied the basics of science and engineering courses like calculus, physics, chemistry, programming, along with the building blocks of electrical engineering. Moving on to second year, we focused more on electronics as I studied electronics devices, amplifiers digital logic design, electrical machines, mechanical CAD using AutoCAD, along with electrical and mechanical foundation topics that stood as the base to be built upon.

In third year, I started digging deeper, that is why it was my favorite year. I studied embedded systems design which is the topic that I liked the most of all. I started conducting my own study on this topic regardless of the university's lectures. I used PIC microcontrollers from Microchip as the main device and MPLab X as the IDE, although I aspired on more complex and powerful ones. I have learned about Arduino too, but still worked more on PIC as I wanted to gain the skills needed to work with embedded systems without easing it. I learned power electronics too, and it was an important course that contained many informations needed in today's electronics products. After it, there was electrical drive. I learned means of controlling the speed of various electrical motors including induction motor, synchronous motor, servo motor, DC motor, and stepper motor. Along with all of these courses, I have used simulation software like Proteus and LTspice, which helped me understand and learn electronics.

In fourth year, it was more mechatronics-biased, as it contained learning PLC and automation. Along with theoretical studies, we have conducted lab experiments to support theoretical courses. In the end, I had many skills that I gained by myself like C programming for embedded systems, troubleshooting electronics problems, usage of engineering software for accomplishing designs, and more.

My thesis was about developing a device that connects and disconnects electrical power sources to the load, which is known as automatic transfer switch (ATS). We have made a proof of concept solid-state ATS that takes 2 inputs; the grid power source, and the solar power source which is the default. Then it constantly observe and measure both of them, and when the default source is less than the required pre-defined threshold, it disconnects it and connects the other source. This project was a combination of nearly all skills learned along the 4 year journey, and I aspire to do more of such projects as I advance in the industry in the future.

All of above insured that I have picked the right choice, I have picked the future of engineering, I have picked the future.

___________

I think the last sentence needs a bit of tweaking from experts like you xD (especially the first part of it, the other parts are great right?)

gimme your generous opinions... thanks
