A question to Mod Gloria

timka 3-8  Oct 9, 08, 03:54pm  #
I am sorry for questioning you but if you would please tell to help me out.
I have been writing my essays and posting then on essayforun.com, Gloria you have done a great job at correcting my papers, but heres the thing I get like 75% on the paper when my teacher grades it.
I don't know what to do, if you are a professional writer then I have no idea on what to expect when I do my exit exam.
My question to you is, how many years have you been writing essays thank you

Good evening.

I have been writing for over five years, professionally and teaching at various levels for more years than I'd care to admit. What is it that you are being counted off for in your papers? Perhaps we can focus more on those specific things.

The thing is here that because the service is free, my assistance is very limited. I read through the essays and make my comments, but I do not point out every single instance of every occurrance; you are not paying for my services, therefore they are not 100% foolproof. It is up to you to interpret my suggestions, make corrections, and apply them to the rest of your paper. If you want someone to write your papers, format them, and perform complete editing services, that is where paid writing services takes over.
The second side to this is that if I were to go through and change absolutely everything that was flawed in your essays it would be my voice and words, not yours; not only is this unethical, you aren't learning anything from it and your professors will pick up on it in a heartbeat.
I'm here more as a tutor than a professional editing service. I hope this clears things up a bit for you.
Don't apologize; they are valid questions :)

Gloria

It makes sense now in a way, my teacher mostly looks as so that my paper will be well organized such as, not going off topic, and punctuation.

But what she does is she changes my sentence to make it look better and counts off for being wrong.

Thats why I wanted to ask you if you say my papers are good then I am very happy!

Thank you! Gloria=] by the way shes 89 years old '-'

OK; that's good to know, so the next one we can focus on that specifically. It sounds like she's looking to make sure you stay on the point and not wander around too much, and mechanics.
Some teachers are like that, especially older ones: grammar and punctuation used to be the main focus of writing, not necessarily content as it is today, so that is probably where she is coming from :)
She sounds like a sweet lady with your best interests at heart.
Keep your head up!

Sure. You copy and past your text into the same box that you used to write this note, then you click the "Post Reply" button, just like you did to create this one.

Good luck!

Gloria
