Bumping threads

I was wondering if we're allowed to bump our threads if there hasn't been a reply. If so, what's the waiting period?

Bumping threads by writing 'bump' or similar meaningless text is NOT allowed; it MAY be acceptable if you add something meaningful and reasonably long to the thread though.
