Turnitin website - originality report

I'm not sure if the moderators are aware of this website, but at my school, we are required to submit our essays to turnitin.com before handing it in. The website gives us an originality report, based on its search results across the internet and its own database.
By posting my essay up on this forum, if turnitin.com finds it, will my essay be counted as "plagiarized"? Is there any way for me to prove that the essay is, in fact, my own?

I'd really appreciate some clarification about this.

Thanks!

Turnitin won't find out because their "bots" have been excluded from crawling our website. For more information you may check www.turnitin.com/robot/crawlerinfo.html#excluding.

Yes, by posting your REAL name in your profile. That way the posted essay is associated with your name, which - in most cases - should be enough proof that you were the author of the essay.

EF and TurnItIn, plagarism of your own work?

Just another question that popped up. Does anyone know if TurnItIn includes sites such as these in its plagiarism searches.

Turnitin isn't that reliable in my opinion. One time, I didn't plagiarize anything but it showed 60% plagiarized!

Your essay will not be called plagiarism, because Turnitin "bots" are not allowed to scan this website. turnitin.com/robot/crawlerinfo.html#excluding.

I turned in one of the essays I posted earlier on this forum to TurnItIn.com, and the my essay showed 72% similarity to essayforum.com.

I'm not sure why this happened, since you said the turnitin bots are not allowed to scan this website, but I just wanted to bring this to your attention.

You may check this page: http://turnitin.com/robot/crawlerinfo.html#excluding and our robots: essayforum.com/robots.txt to make sure we follow TurnItIn's policies and block their robots.

That's one of the reasons we encourage all posters to include their real names in their profiles.

We also contacted TurnItIn. Still, you are the only person - out of several thousands in the past few years - who has reported this issue so far...

Turnitin.com is perfect for introductory classes that rely heavily on self-interpretation. However, when writing literature reviews and other research reports that involve an extensive amount of research, it fails. Most professors recognize it's limitations. I have a sneaks suspicion that people probably pull off work that's been posted on here and pass it off as their own. Might not be bad to open this site up to turnit.com and other plagiarism check sites...after all, this site simply tries to give feedback.
