Sorry for writing something non-related to the topic... I thought it would be a great idea to add a plagiarism filter for the threads... What do you think? (Kevin)

Hi Lorenzo, I moved this to its own thread.

So... it's possible to use a filter program that will recognize plagiarism automatically? The designers of EssayForum probably know more about this than I do...

That sounds really interesting. I'll ask about this, thanks for the idea!

I lack of programming abilities. But, I believe its possible. If they have good programmers, I think they could build their own "plagiarism filter" and add it to the website. A program that searches, in the net, automatically and if it finds something similar to the text submited: plagiarism alert!

PS. sorry for the late reply, I haven't checked the site for days.

Thanks, Lorenzo. I bet you're right! I linked the designers to this thread.

Imminent Question---any thoughts?

Since many of my essays are posted online, I wonder whether colleges will detect my essays as plagiarism?
And what if other people copy mine and turn them into the same college I applied?

Thank You So Much.

Don't worry. I had the same concern as you did. The essay can be easily searched on Google by just typing in one sentence from your essay and it'll appear in the top ten results. You shouldn't have to worry as long as that name on your essay thread is the same name on your college application. And if you list your school with your account, you get better security.

I don't think that the colleges know about these websites, and I think that your application is printed out for the admissions officers to read so they probably wouldn't know that you plagiarized.

Also, there are many different admissions officers so what's the chance that the same one will read the same essay twice?

Don't worry, you are over-thinking this.

And also, shame to the people who actually plagiarize admissions essays from others.
That's the lowest thing one can do.

Please review my essays. I need help on them. Thanks!
