Ishmael Essay - persuasive essay based on a current event

javanick28 1-3 Edited by: Moderator  Oct 18, 09, 11:54am  #
Hello...

I have been assigned a persuasive essay based on a current event related to the book Ishmael. The essay does not need to reference Ishmael in any way, but the basis must be an idea from the book.

We must use two persuasive methods, one of which must be logic (data, research)

If anyone has any ideas for a topic of thesis to get me started, I would really appreciate it!'

Thanks,
Nick

Why not brainstorm a topic on your own. Start by deciding whether or not you agree with the novel -- is it wrong for humanity to seek to control its environment, as the book claims, or is it in fact both necessary and good. Then, read some newspapers, watch some news shows, and choose an issue that involves man either seeking to control its environment or deciding to leave it alone. Argue in favor of whichever side you agree with.

Um, okay. How exactly are you going to connect this to Ishmael? I can see ways of doing it, but I am curious as to what angle you are planning on taking.
