Help with essay - why should we tolerate hateful speech

I need come up with at least three moral reasons excluding constitutional reasons and I can't come up with anything.

What are the benefits of being able to say what you want to say, to express yourself freely? Are not all people (morally) created equal, and each possess a right to an opinion and free thought? Is freedom moral? What makes one person's definition of "hate" more important and "all ruling" than another's thoughts? Who gets to define "hate?"

also, if you let the government begin to decide what a person can say and not say, your advancing their powers even more. Give an inch, they'll take a yard. How many rights do we really want to give up? By allowing them to restrict what can be said your opening a whole new gateway of regulation.
