Where to Find good literary Criticism

Hello, I am new to these forums and I was wondering where to find good sources of literary criticism.

I am a senior in high school, and I am in an AP Literature class. The essays that I am required to write for this course are usually literary analysis essays. Analyzing literature is usually not too hard for me... but we are required to use outside sources to support our arguments about a particular book.

Most of the books that we read come from a list of books that have been seen in questions on the AP test. The books are classic books, from Moby Dick to Wuthering Heights, from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest to Lord of the Flies. We are allowed to pick the books that we want to read, and I chose to read The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I have an essay due in 2 weeks over this book... I am required to select a prompt from a packet of questions that have appeared on the AP Literature test, or I can make up my own prompt.

I am having a lot of trouble finding literary criticism on this book... it is relatively new, and I have been unable to find too many credible sources. I can use Spark Notes and other similar sites for general information to help me understand themes, or to refresh my memory about important parts of the book, but I can not cite them in my essay.

Many of the websites that apparently have literary criticism are online libraries and databases, but most of these databases have passwords that prevent me from accessing any information. The two sites that have worked best for me are the EBSCO database (which I can access because my school library has a subscription to their services) and the database from my local library (youranswerplace.org). But I have yet to find a very good resource for any kind of literary criticism.

I have found critical analysis for novels within certain books that contain only literary analysis essays. I used one such book when I wrote an essay about Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. But I don't think such a book exists for The Kite Runner. Are there any good databases on the internet that might help me with this essay?

Thank you for your help! I am sure these forums will be a very valuable resource when I am writing essays in the future.

Thanks again,

opiaboy

The book is too new to have gathered much critical analysis as yet, but you can find a list of what potential sources do exist here: library.duke.edu/research/summerreading/2005/literary-resour ces.html

I loved the kite runner, is your school library no help? ask the librarian they can help come up with key terms, ebscohost is so hard to use you need to use so many different key words to search. Good Luck
what a great book to do it on
