essay question on national theatre and somerset house???

JasonBanks 1-1  Dec 29, 08, 02:25pm  #
Focus on the particular contrast, across time and the dividing river, of Chamber's late 18th century Somerset House and the National Theatre. Apart from the above considerations of fabric and facture, how do they express their connectedness to the metropolitan life of the city –and how is this further reflected in the use patterns that they were intended to accommodate? How successfully, in your view, does the corresponding architecture achieve this aim?

can anyone help me start an introduction for this essay question please

After you study the class readings, or readings that you are required to find through research, can continue by reading some articles that other people have written about these things. If you do enough reading about the subject matter, you will inevitably form an opinion of your own. In your intro, give that unique opinion about the contrast between the two.

Then, for the rest of the essay, you will be explaining and supporting that assertion you made in the intro paragraph.

You might start your preparation for this essay, once you have done some research, by making a list of the obvious differences between the designs of the two places, and then see if any sort of patterns emerge that you can talk about.
