Hi, I applied to RTA School of Media and a part of my non-academic requirements is that I write a 750-1000 word essay on one of the following six topics:
1. Invents a game in which players use two or more of the following: a red shovel, capers, Marshall McLuhan, an Edison was cylinder, a bagpipe, cockapoos, and Windex. What kind of audience would you expect to be interested in your game an how would you reach them?
2. Are we alone?
3. Albert Einstein once said, "The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education." How does this apply to you?
4. You have been elected Prime Minister of Canada. Describe the first law you would pass and why you would have it repeal it six months later. (Alternatively, you may also answer this question as if you had just been appointed a Chair in the CRTC.)
5. You have decided to create a television series based on your life. In the series, your character is the villain. Describe your character, the series, and which great work of art (from any media) inspired the show.
6. Imagine that you could spend an hour talking with any real or fictional person, past, present, or future, about their greatest work of achievement. Why did you choose that person? Describe your conversation with them about their work or achievement, its strengths and weaknesses, and how you would adapt it to another media.
I was thinking of doing either 2 or 3 but I'm not 100% on how to research either...
Also I was wondering what a bibliography was, does that mean I have to research the authors of my sources and write about them?
Are we alone? - Maybe you could get some statistics about how many people feel lonely, or research the definition of "alone". This could relate to "Are we alone in the universe?" which has to do with space research.

A biography is where you research a person. A bibliography is where you list the authors, titles, and websites (If they're on the Internet) of all of your sources. You can Google search "Sample bibliography" for an idea of what I'm talking about. Make sure you find out whether the format you're supposed to use is MLA or APA or something...

This one is interesting, because you could write a bit about how Einstein is inspiring in so many ways, say for 1 paragraph (and explore what he means by this quote). Then perhaps you could explain that traditional schooling is possibly too generic, or even "controlled" so that young people are shaped in a way that the government wants them to be. It would be interesting to come up with reasons why un-schooling is important to some parents, who disagree with the standard education. Instead, they choose to encourage the child's innate talents and abilities, they put more emphasis on the child's strengths and nurture them, while putting some "unnecessary" subjects on the back burner. Or, in the time that a child is sitting at a desk in school all day, they could be exploring a nature trail, or a tidepool, or a museum, or reading novels... and a without traditional school, a child is allowed to learn at their own pace and what is interesting to them. How does it apply to you? What aspects about standard education do you feel may have hindered your true interests or abilities?
