Cause and Effect Essay Trouble

I really have no clue what to write my cause and effect essay on. I am looking for a topic that would be simple, quick, and easily put together. Our requirements are few (1 1/2 to 2 pages with 4 sources from our school's library databases) and the topics can cover anything that would have a "cause" and an "effect". I've pretty much come up with nothing so far. I thought of writing on social cirlces that junior high/9th/10th grade students run in and the effect their economic and family backgrounds have on their choices of dress, friends and habits. I also think that this is a terrible essay topic that wouldn't come together very well if I tried to write on it. I'm just looking for some suggestions (ASAP) or ideas on some easy, college-student related topics that could be thrown together in a few hours (I'm a fairly fast writer once I get started).

Thanks a ton!

perhaps you could do
broken homes for cause and runaway teenagers for effect

good idea...I thought about doing premarital sex and cohabitation and I've got all my research for it, but sadly realized that there's not really a cause or an effect I can think of. Poo.

Poo! :-) Well, it would be great to write about something that you can write passionately about. If I had to write something, I would write about how kids on the cross country team become clear thinkers, because jogging for an hour is a powerful kind of meditation. That would be complex, but I would be interested.

If you need to get through this quickly, though, how about something for which theere is a lot of material available on that library database. All you have to do is type in the word predictive (or predictor). You'll get lots of articles about things that are predictive of other things. Just choose one to read, and then start writig about what you learned.

Well, if your teacher has a sense of humor, you can write an essay on how we should ban dihydrogen monoxide because it causes cancer. After all, 100% of patients who are diagnosed with cancer have ingested large quantities of the chemical prior to developing the disease. Check out lhup.edu/~dsimanek/dhmo.htm for the sort of tone you could adopt.

Or, if your teacher doesn't appreciate good satire, you could look into any sort of pathological or abnormal psychology, and how it develops, i.e. what its causes are.

What? ? Haha, I guess I see how that is funny. I would advise against it, unless the prof does have a good sense of humor. Wow...
