Antigone: law and literature, can a survey be used in an essay?

Chickadee 1-1  Jul 20, 08, 11:09am  #
Howdy folks,

I have to read the Greek tragedy Antigone for law school, i want to score really high marks with my essay on law and culture/ideology. My goal is to survey 50 people after watching a live performance of the tragedy, questioning the effects of culture and ideology on personal perceptions of the law etc. I don't want to rehash the work of other academics.

QUESTION, is it acceptable to use survey/questionnaires in an essay as supporting evidence? i have never heard of it done at my law school. I will of course look at various academic literature but i want to go above and beyond what is required. Any suggestions? Many Thanks

Good afternoon.

I suggest checking with your instructor as to whether or not this is an acceptable form of research. It might be, it might not be, depending on how scientific and accurate the research is, and how long you have to conduct it in. It's better to be safe than sorry though, and checking with your teacher first will make sure you don't waste time on something he or she won't accept.
