Boxin "Hello! My name is Boxin and I am currently a senior in high school. When I was five years old my family immigrated to the U.S from China. Although English is not my strength I have come to enjoy writing as much as punching numbers into my calculator. I will try my best to share my suggestions with everyone!"

Boxin Zhou, EssayForum.com Contributor
Lin - default "Hi, here's the human being behind Linmark: a third-culture kid who grew up in Asia, moved to the US and then Europe for school. The EF mission statement inspired me to make "an education-based contribution to humanity" by helping students improve their writing. Writing well is a never-ending quest and passion of mine although I am majoring in health studies and business. I believe writing is the best way to communicate. My dream is to one day write a non-fiction best-seller (on health and business)."

Tyler - default "Hi, my name is Tyler and I am currently at Pasadena City College in California. My major is International Relations, but I also love philosophy. Hopefully I will be transferring to some good schools this spring. Hope I can help!"

Sairalinde "Hi, I'm Sairalinde! I'm on my way to a business degree, with a passion for writing and painting. Someday, when college is behind me, I will write my own historical fiction and illustrate it. I also love editing and giving suggestions! That is why, after posting the few obligatory notes on others' works, I was hooked!"

silverlystars "My username, silverystars, comes from a Jeff Tweedy lyric: "my mind is filled with silvery stars/honey, kisses, clouds of fog." I love words and how they are able to fit together so well, whether it be in essays, songs, or even on the backs of soup cans! Wait a minute...do soup cans really even have backs?"

Edmund Plimpton, EssayForum.com Contributor
Marcell "Hey, I'm Marcell. I was born in Korea but moved to Australia 8 years ago. I'm applying to unis in America too. I hope to major in IR and find some sort of work that allows me to travel heaps and help others. Though my knowledge in English Language is not the best, I will do my best! Thanks!"

Angela "Hi guys, I'm Angela. I'm originally from China and currently live in the US. I love exploration of new things, new environments, and new challenges. Like most of you, I'm currently applying to university this year. I'm a homeschooled student and hope my advice in the essays would be helpful."

Angela Wang, EssayForum.com Contributor
Mustafa "I'll be a junior at George Mason Univ., starting fall 2009. In addition to a double major in finance and accounting, my experience writing has convinced me that it will be worthwhile to pursue a minor in journalism. I hope one day, attached to my name will be CPA and MBA."

Eric "My friends, even my teachers, call me by my last name - Noto. I'm a senior in high school with plans to attend college and major in history (because education is the next best thing to a recording contract with a major record label, but I can't rely on that dream). I aspire to score a 100% on an English essay, but thus far have only garnered a 98%."

Eric Noto, EssayForum.com Contributor
"My name is Faisal and I am 18 years of age. I have recently completed high school. Currently, I have strong hopes to complete my undergrad at a university in the US, with the intentions of majoring in Economics."

But why are you visiting this Contributor Page?

...You are Visiting the EF Contributor Page

When you come to the Forum and read someone's essay, you are using your own time to help another student improve his or her writing. Although it may take you only a few minutes to review someone's essay, your meaningful feedback will go a long way to help that person.

When you apply for a job or for college, it helps if you can list activities that reflect your aptitude for teamwork and collaboration. When you become an EssayForum Contributor, you are demonstrating enthusiasm and leadership. This is a rewarding activity that helps other students and looks great on an application.

You DO Have Something to Contribute

To become an EF Contributor, it is not necessary for you to be an expert at writing and editing. Even if you are NOT yet an expert at the written English language, you can still help students improve their writing by letting them know what effects their essays had on you. No one else has your perspective and your ideas, so no one can help in quite the same way.

Are you still learning English as an ESL student? Always remember that, as a bilingual person, you have a special understanding of language. Contributor status is not just for native speakers of English. It is for everyone!

Be a Contributor (It's very quick and easy to apply!)

All you need to do is provide some thoughtful feedback ("Peer Review") for at least 20 essays, and then send a message to us. Let us know that you are interested in becoming a contributor, and we will evaluate the feedback that you have given other students. If you consistently provide sincere advice and helpful ideas to other members, we will establish you as an EF Contributor, and your contributor status will be active for as long as you continue to review at least THREE ESSAYS EACH WEEK.

Your username will be given [Contributor] status so that:

  • EssayForum members will know that you have experience providing helpful and meaningful peer reviews.
  • You can list your role as an Essay Forum Contributor on your resume, job applications, and college applications.

We can attest to your participation by recognizing you on this Contributor Page. If you wish, you can have your school represented on this page, along with our information about how you have contributed at EssayForum. We can even include your picture!

In addition, all contributors will be able to directly communicate with moderators and other contributors within a private forum or by private mail to make sure the process of assisting others is as smooth and rewarding as possible!

Some students choose to go the extra mile in their effort - to refine an admissions essay, to master the English language, or to learn the subtleties of academic writing. Your parents and teachers should be proud of your proactive approach to learning. While others go online and seek only entertainment, you can take time to participate as an EF Contributor at EssayForum.
