Lit. Review & Objectives - questions

Hello.

I'm quite confused on the below:
1) How do I make sure that the lit. review that I've done is thorough enough? Someone might have done the same thing that I'm going to do in the other part of the world. The fact is I won't know it unless they put it up in the internet. Then, will I be caught as plagiarising?

2) I'm interested in comparing books of children and study the cohesion of it by using Systemic Functional Grammar. But the problem is how should i put the statement when asked "Why do you want to do it?"

I will say, "to understand the structure of grammar."
But why?
I can't think of a point to argue and to further on with the proposal.

3) Could you please provide me some websites which provide free online articles on systemic functional grammar?

Thank you.

1) Hi, if you are doing a lit review for a particular class, the class probably has some submission guidelines that go with it. However, the idea of a lit review is to 1.) show the state of modern understanding with regard to the topic, 2.) show where your particular study fits in, and how it will make a unique contribution, and 3.) show that important things have been written about it... that it is an important subject.

So, you get to ENJOY writing the literature review... Explain the studies that have already been done, and how they relate to your own meaningful topic.

As for worrying about plagiarism, you can feel pretty confident that if you write it yourself it will be unique. If you want, do a google search for a few sentences of it to see if it comes up in a search. Put the sentences in quotation marks.

2) How is this study going to improve our understanding? How is it going to improve our understanding of children's literature? Answer that question, and that is why. How will it IMPROVE OUR PRACTICE?

3) Do a google search, also use Google Scholar.
