The title rough waters addresses Scoot and Greg's enduring expedition into a rough life, after their tragic loss of their parents. Right After their parents death they have to move with their uncle that they have never met before, When they move with their uncle Scott the youngest brother tries to make the best of it and Gregg's the oldest is determined to self destruct. When scott and Greg's parents died in a disastrous car accident after a party their whole life's change completely, in a way they never thought it would change. They have their life's set up in California, They were not ready for something like that . Their life's get rough as a river gets rough their lives also did, as some people know how to deal with a rough river and seemed not be ready and they had to learn to deal with rough waters. Scott is the one that seems to deal better with their parents dead in the other hand Gregg's is the one that doesn't accept the reality and through the novel he have to learn lessons to accept the reality.

After their parents dead they have to move to a small town in Colorado called Buena Vista, with their uncle they've never met before their nervous to meet they don't know how to react as the first time you go rafting into rough waters you don't know what to expect I think that exactly how their feeling they don't know what to expect about their uncle, they don't know how is going to be like to live with someone they've never met. Scott gets along with his uncle when Gregg's is being a jerk to him he thinks he's uncle is trying to take the place of his parents when rocky only is trying to help him but Gregg doesn't realized that he's being selfish and he only thinks about himself and start partying and thinks that 'the best thing to do.while scott is trying to make the best and get along with rocky, trying not to cause problems and be good as much as he can . greg's get in trouble ,rocky seemed to have a hard time trying to get along with gregg.

while scott was trying his best to get along with rocky ,gregg didnt help at all with the bad attitude he had , when gregg started to hang out with roger thing got even worst. roger was a bad influence for gregg
