I am having trouble writing an essay. I have always had trouble with english. i can't seem to get my thoughts down on paper and i need help. I am doing english on line and i am having trouble with it. the question is. Everything in the great gatsby is seen in two ways. on the one hand as glamourous, romantic, and exciting, and on the other as crude, corrupt or even disgusting. This double vision applies to people, places, and events. In a unified essay of from 750 to 1000 words, show how this is true, and explain its signifance, using specific references to the novel to support your ideas.

Good afternoon.

The Great Gatsby is a very important book in American literature, and as such there are numerous study guides, online and in print, that can help you with this essay. I suggest you find a good, comprehensive study guide that can help you with the rest of this course.

You can begin this essay by going through the text and picking out different instances in the text that can be interpreted from these two perspectives. For instance, Gatsby's house. It is a large mansion, an ode to his wealth and success. On the other hand, the wealth and success that afforded him this property was acquired by less than scrupulous means, therefore it can be seen as corrupt, even disgusting.

Once you have several items from the text, you can look at them from both points of view, creating almost a compare/contrast outline. That will give you a good start.

I wish you the best of luck!

right i believe that he hits bottom when the storm is there. but did he hit bottom during the storm? i think he hit rock bottom when he has the mock trial.

The question is Write an essay of 800 to 1000 words on Bottoming out, fiinding the place where there is no way to go but up. This essay should refer specifically to king lear and address these question

Where is bottom, interms of both sitution and character?
How can one know one has reached bottom?
what , is anything, is the benefit of reaching bottom?
Discuss these questions in a general way, explaining your ideas carefully, anduse examples from King lear and the two other works studied so far, if you wish.
