Essay For almost one hundred years, the Latin words, "Vires, Artes, Mores" have been the guiding philosophy behind Florida State University. Vires signifies strength of all kinds - moral, physical, and intellectual; Artes alludes to the beauty of intellectual pursuits as exemplified in skill, craft, or art; and Mores refers to character, custom, or tradition. Describe how one or more of the values embodied in these concepts are reflected in your life.
Okay so I have been staring at my screen for a few hours with nothing on my page. I have no idea what to do, this is so awful.
Finally I have something down. What do you think of what I have so far:
An art teacher, an architect, a sculptor, a few graphic design artists, a painter and a photographer. These are the people who I have been surrounded by my entire life, they are my family. They have impacted my life in so many ways and molded me into the person I am today and the person I will be in the future. My whole life has been associated with art. Whether it be slicing clay for my Aunt's next big project or taking photos of model houses my father has made, art has always been there. Art is not just drawing a pretty picture on a piece of paper. It a form of expression that doesn't need words or sound. It can say so many things to you just when you look at it.
For the last 3 years I have becoming progressively more interested in photography and it's elements. Very quickly I became passionate about. It is something I would like to continue doing throught my life. Photography has taught me that if there is something you really want to you need to be dedicated and commit to it. You can't do things half-heartedly and think you are going to succeed. I believe this is where the philosiphy of "Vires" can tie in. To have the stregnth to stay commited and work something until the end.
ugh kinda lame. But I wrote it about Artes but I want to tie in the elements of the other 2 words in the motto. GOod idea?

Good evening.
Here are my suggestions:
"An art teacher, an architect, a sculptor, a few graphic design artists, a painter, and a photographer. These are the people who I have been surrounded by my entire life; they are my family. Which of the FSU philosophies does this encompass?
For the last 3 years I have become progressively more interested in photography and it's elements. Very quickly I became passionate about What? Please finish this sentence. It is something I would like to continue doing throughout my life. Photography has taught me that if there is something you really want to you need to be dedicated and commit to it. You cannot do things half-heartedly and think you are going to succeed. I believe this is where the philosophy of "Vires" can tie in. To have the strength to stay committed and work something until the end What? Please finish your sentence; as it is, it is incomplete. What is your subject? What is the result?."
So, if you want to write about the other two philosophies as well, how have they impacted your life?
